Look what's on the Queen's new iPod

OK, you're the young, mould-breaking, rockstar president of the US of A. You're on a visit to Britain that features (among other stuff) tea at Buck House, your first ever encounter with Her Maj. You've already been chastised, and not in a kind way, by the British press for presenting their prime minister with a gift of 25 Great American Movies on DVDs that may or may not have been compatible with British machinery.

So now what do you give their octogenarian monarch who, you can safely assume, already has everything she could ever want? An iPod, of course. Engraved, certainly. Personalised, too. But still an iPod. Cue outrage in America ("Confirms Obama hasn't figured out presidential gift-giving" - NBC; "Well, it's better than a bunch of DVDs that don't work" - Christian Science Monitor) and Britain ("She already has one" - the Daily Telegraph; "My Husband and iPod" - The Sun).

Difficult as this is to believe, the Queen already owned an iPod, a 6GB silver model acquired as long ago as 2005 at the suggestion of the ever-hip Prince Andrew. But Obama's gift was a video iPod, loaded with photos and video from the Queen's 2007 state visit to the States as well as archive footage from her 1957 trip; plus pics and audio from President Obama's inauguration, and audio of his speech (as plain Senator Obama) at the 2004 Democratic national convention.

Actually, I’ve found myself missing BJ Clinton. Really. He was so much better than this loser-in-chief that I almost wish Hillary had run and won. I don’t think she and Bill would have sold us so handily down every river in the world.

My friend, once an actress, says Hillary is always acting now, and she’s not good at it. Better she should have stayed in the senate. But now? No future in government for her unless BoyBarak gets sick and dies.

Agree with sentiment. . .Never imagined we could see the time, that Bill Clinton; even 'treasonous', lying Bill Clinton with his equally dishonest, FBI tampering wife; would seem a better alternative than what we now must suffer.

A 'gift' of himself to the Queen; truly Obama redefines 'arrogance'; and raises 'narcissism' to heights never before measured in 'one' man.

I looked up the book on Amazon. Some of the reviews are hilarious. This fellow gave the book 5 stars but look at his reason!

Pres__ent 0 won’t have as much flair for oratory his entire existence as MLK had in his little finger. MLK’s speeches, particularly “I Have a Dream”, are moving, even when I see them today. Nothing 0 has ever said has ever moved me in the least. To the contrary, most of the content of what he says makes me want to run for the nearest john and have a good barf. In fact, just the sight of the joker borders on making me physically ill. To compare his oratory to that of either MLK or JFK is a profound, offensive insult to the memory of both.

What’s funny is that if you read the reviews, at least 80% of the 5-star reviews are tongue in cheek mock reviews. So the 2-star average for the book should really be closer to one star.

Wow... It’s even worse than I first thought. Besides the fact that I think an iPod is more suitable for a child’s birthday gift than a gift for a QUEEN, the contents are even worse!!! The 1957 archival footage and stuff, that’s kind of neat, but he included HIS SPEECHES? What incredible narcissism!

Like the Queen of England wants to hear this fascist’s speeches? I think she’s heard enough of THOSE types of speeches in her lifetime... Then again maybe it’s a good thing. At least the Queen now knows EXACTLY what she’s dealing with here, and she’s definitely seen it all before...

I can’t help but keep wishing that Her Majesty has had MI6 pull all their files on this guy, and has his Certificate of British Citizenship somewhere, and is holding on to it for the “right time” or SOMETHING! :)
