.- On Wednesday, Love Makes a Family, a gay-rights activist group, declared victory in the state of Connecticut and discussed plans to follow gay-marriage advocate Tim Gills strategic plan by re-deploying their lobbying and financial resources to focus on overturning traditional marriage laws in other states and on the national level.
In a letter to the organizations members, Ann Stanback, Executive Director of Connecticuts Love Makes a Family, said her group will "cease operations" in the state "on December 31, 2009" and will begin work on the national level to repeal the 1996 Federal Definition of Marriage Act.
Connecticuts Supreme Court ruled in October of last year that gay marriage was Constitutional, making Connecticut one of three states where gay marriage has been declared legal by state Supreme Courts: Massachusetts, Connecticut and Iowa.
Stanback told her supporters that she has enjoyed the last eight years working to win acceptance of gay marriage, feels confident that gay marriage is "secure for all time," and now wants to "spend time with [her] very patient wife, Charlotte."
Detailing the groups next steps, Stanback says priorities include: to "smoothly enact marriage equality," secure support of Connecticut Congressmen to repeal the Defense of Marriage Act, lobby for more protection of the "transgender community," elect a "pro-equality" legislature that is friendly to the gay community, and to share their "successful strategies" with other states.
The Love Makes a Family website lists successes over the last eight years including: 20,000 active gay marriage supporters, shifting public option in support of gay marriage to 53%, incrementally introducing the public to gay marriage through an adoption law in 2000, "a handful of rights to same-sex couples" in 2002, civil unions in 2005, and finally "marriage equality victory in 2008."
While groups like Love Makes a Family are claiming success and "ceasing operations," billionaire Tim Gill, who has reportedly donated over $150 million to gay marriage causes, is still behind the scenes directing the U.S. gay marriage strategy.
Last August, CNA reported that Gill detailed his gay-rights strategy at the Democratic National Convention. He laid out a plan and declared, "The only way that bigots will learn, is if we take their power away from them." His strategy encourages donors to focus on winning strategic local and state level legislative offices, and promoted sharing ideas and donating money across state lines on key winnable races.
In April of 2007, Denver political analyst Floyd Ciruli told Time Magazine "Gill [and his people are] incredibly strategic. They simply don't waste money. They put their funding where they can take control of legislatures." Ciruli adds, "People were unaware of what was going on for quite awhile, but now I think everybody knows that they have really changed the direction of the [Colorado]. I'm not sure that everyone really understands how potent [Gill] is, but he now has to be the number one gay rights advocate in the country in terms of funding and strategy. They're taking significant contributions and putting them brilliantly in legislative environments where a few seats changing will change the entire control of a state."
Now that gay-marriage is "secure" in Connecticut, the big money from donors like Gill is likely drying up and being reallocated along with out resources to new winnable races in other states.
This Tim Gill character is bad news - a totally ruthless homosexual activist. In fact this is the same guy who helped create a group called “Log Cabin” which tried to infiltrate the GOP. “Log Cabin” presented itself as a group of homosexual Republicans. But during the ‘08 Presidential election they came out with attack ads against Mitt Romney. Turns out they were funded by liberal activist Tim Gill. For the homosexual, their lifestyle practices always come first.
notice that those states were all done by the courts.
What are they so scared of to not let the people vote?
Iowa had better get a grip and sort it out up there ans where else are these sick perverts planning to do this?
We need to know instead of just finding out when it is too late.
as Typical we’re always behind and not as organised and why can’t these decisions be appealed anyway.???
a couple of them have been on here trying to use libertarians and others to divide us all.
On their websites they say to get to know someone at work , neighbors etc. become friends and have them like you but do not tell them that you’re a homo.
When the time is right they the homo’s should then tell their new friend but explain that they were born that way and that they only want to be left alone.
They are told to not act up or act differently in front of their new friends
This is all a plan to manipulate people into feeling sorry for them and sadly even some on here have said they do not mind them because they know one and they are nice.
Well if they are that nice go to their homo freak parades and see how they act differently, think about what they were doing last night with the same sex and then tell me that you do not find it disgusting
Gay Marriage
Un American
Un Christian
Un Natural
We have too many deviant lovers right here on FR. Of course it’s usually one elitist fairy posting 20 times on one thread.
every true, the likes of Peggy noonan. I remember one fool who kept registering and telling us that we have to accept them if we want to win
aye, those 500 votes are sure to win us elections.
I’ve had many arguments with them too.
I see your user name and was hoping you can help me as I do not know much about your state.
Does this mean homo’s can marry?
can an appeal go in and will it if possible?
is there any way this can be stopped and is there a change in the constitution set up already?
sorry for the questions but trying to get as much info to tell others
It just sounds stupid that these people can sit on a bench and have all this power, they are not there to make laws and one would think that there was something which could be done.
“Iowa had better get a grip and sort it out up there ans where else are these sick perverts planning to do this?
Did you hear that the Iowa gays says it is unconstitutional to declare that a marriage is between a man and a woman only? I’ll have to check my copy of the constitution but seriously doubt it is in there.
yea funny I never found it
Here in Ohio, we do not any of this gay marriage crap. Of course, if you give the leftist scum in Cleveland and Columbus enough time, they will at least try to mess it up.
I do not have an answer for your other questions. However, a state amendment might trump this crap in Iowa.
Good point. Even liberal California voted down homosexual marriage in a free and fair vote of the people.
Massachusetts’ legislature killed off a proposed referendum in that state on marriage. There the people will probably never get to vote on it. In Connecticut, the process of amending the constitution is very cumbersome, and will likely never happen. In Iowa, the state legislature must approve proposed constitutional amendments in two consecutive sessions, then submit to voters for final approval. This too is a cumbersome process.
So the three states that now have homosexual marriage will have it indefinitely.
I would love to see conservatives somehow force a lawsuit on the federal law with marriage, in a certain way. Since federal law declares marriage as a man and a woman, can’t the states be compelled to go along? Doesn’t federal law always trump conflicting state laws?
I know the liberals will try to force homosexual marriage through the federal courts. But I hoped conservatives could also file suit on a different set of issues.
Why is this issue being handled on the timetable of the gay activists anyway? Why do they get to decide when and where lawsuits are filed and all that????????
Ohio doesn’t have this issue because the people of Ohio amended their constitution in the Nov. 2004 election to define marriage as a man and a woman.

Instead, in many states and federally, legislators sat back and let them frame it as a civil rights issue, when it isn't one. A legitimate civil right does not infringe upon the real civil rights of others.
Given that those that WROTE the Constitution believed homosexuality was a crime, it can safely be stated gay marriage isn't a right.
“Given that those that WROTE the Constitution believed homosexuality was a crime, it can safely be stated gay marriage isn’t a right.” Not just that, but not even a marriage. It is a civil union not a marriage.
your last line
have asked this several times, they are using the courts so why are we not. It seems we react instead of being in front of them.
Right now as I type they are moving people into towns, states etc, they are working with certain legislatures and trying to get them elected but of course not informing the public of their intentions.
when everyone is on lace they then go for it and by that time we are too late.
Question is why are we not doing the same, pick out certain areas and then put one of ours in there , giving them financial support , word out etc?
We will never win this if we just keep reacting and keeping quiet, some of us are now speaking against them with no fear of name calling but many still do not want to say anything and that is sad.
In fact it was a seriously punished crime, usually execution. Jefferson changed the state of Virginia penalty for homosexual acts into merely castration and, IIRC, banishment.
Civil unions are crap. People can married - a man and a woman, or people can have business or other partnerships that are already existing under law. To make special laws of any kind whatsoever to promote homosexuality is desctroying human civilization.
