The Economist is a weekly magazine whose headquarters is London and which is widely respected for its global coverage of political, social and, of course, business news. It also has a relentlessly liberal outlook which is to be expected given Great Britains nanny state mentality.
Former Prime Minister, Margaret Thatcher, a conservative and a contemporary of Ronald Reagan, pointed out that the problem with socialism is that eventually you run out of other peoples money.
It took from January 17, 2009 to March 28, 2009 for The Economist to lose its virginity so far as Barack Obama was concerned. Like most of the media, the magazine greeted his succession to the office of President with a schoolgirls gushing enthusiasm.
Renewing America was the January cover story welcoming him to high office saying, Mr. Obama carries with him the hopes of the planet. Not just America. The planet!
How far left is The Economist? In some ways, it opined in January, the times cry out for more active government: for stronger regulation of banks and near-banks, for much more short-term government spending to counteract the contraction elsewhere in the economy, and for the establishment of a basic health-care system for everyone. This tends to overlook the obvious fact that this is a description of the conditions that led to the current financial meltdown.

If there was even a smidgen of objectivity and fairness in the MSM this country would be gripped in a wave of buyer’s remorse the likes of which has never been seen before. How long can the media continue to lose ratings and revenue before they start doing some actual reporting, and rip the rosy veil off the wholesale destruction Obama is wreaking on this country?
They should really give away the magazine for two year..you know to advance ....whatever.... Maybe not even get paid, because to me, they are overpaid and make money, lucre over my poor personal economics. In a phrase, they are exploiting me. So, they should ‘give back to the (global) community’.
I’ll wait by the phone for their announcement.
How long?
Not very, methinks.
But we’ll see.
Either way, they’re done. It’s a structural thing.
If they don’t die off of their own accord, then as we die off as a republican democracy we’ll just take them with us.
That would be rather sad, of course, but no really cares about them.
How do I know that statement is accurate and true?
I point to the fact that they are indeed dying off.

The Canada Free Press is miles ahead of the American media. I highly recommend it.
I agree with you. And of course we should be optimistic. Jimmy Carter gave us, in a sense, Ronald Reagan. If Obama were dismantling the Republic in half measures he might get reelected, or we could end up with another RINO like McCain. But for the unmitigated disaster over which Obama is presiding, only a very strong conservative will be a sufficient antidote. I believe a very good time lies ahead of us. We just have to endure this dog-awful presidency in the meantime. Fwiw.
