WASHINGTON In the strongest signal yet of her political ambitions, Carly Fiorina said Tuesday that she is "seriously considering" challenging U.S. Sen. Barbara Boxer in next year's California Senate race.
Fiorina, who had surgery for breast cancer a month ago, said she is about to begin chemotherapy at Stanford Hospital, but then plans to resume a busy schedule.
The former CEO of Hewlett-Packard, 54, was a highly visible supporter and economic adviser to Republican Sen. John McCain in the 2008 presidential campaign.
... Fiorina, a resident of Los Altos Hills, spoke to the state Republican convention in February and said at the time that she had made no decisions about running for office. Fiorina also said Tuesday that her different roles the first female CEO of a Fortune 20 company, adviser to a presidential candidate and Washington policy maven on tech issues would serve her well in any future race.
"I've worn many hats for some time now," Fiorina told a small gathering of reporters. "I've had the opportunity to be involved in the political community, policy community and business, and that's a great advantage. I understand all those realms."
One Republican, Assemblyman Chuck DeVore of Irvine, has already launched his campaign for the nomination to take on Boxer. Speculation has focused on Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger as a potential Senate candidate, but he has said repeatedly that he is not running.
... Fiorina would not reveal a timetable for making her decision. This year, she said, she wants to help the Technology Policy Institute develop and explain analyses on several tech issues, including the benefits of visas for highly skilled workers and how best to spend federal money on broadband deployment and health information technology.

Better than Boxer, I reckon. Will she be another Ahnuld?
You go girl Carly.
Fail-o-rina? She’d probably be worse than Boxer.
A three-legged blind and deaf dog would be better than Boxer, who's a complete moron.
‘The former CEO of Hewlett-Packard, 54, was a highly visible supporter and economic adviser to Republican Sen. John McCain in the 2008 presidential campaign. ‘
GREAT!
Recycled garbage from one of the worst run campaigns in American political history.
Is there a viable third party candidate out there???
Boxer is a shoo-in.
Yup -- in a skirt.
Chuck DeVore is a good guy but the CA Gop establishment just won't quit trying to foist another liberal(R) on us.
It's the same plot, over and over and over again.
I’ll take anyone to the right of dumb as rocks Boxer.
I’d like a senator that at least has enough brains to know that voting to increase taxes on the “wealthy” is the kiss of death to California. California has a much higher cost of living making more people fall into the higher tax brackets relative to other states. And once the money leaves the state much of it never returns. That economically damages California more than other states but both our senators are too stupid to figure that out...
Yeah. And folks claimed Ahnuld was better than Grey Davis too.
But compare that to Boxer...
The power is still on...
Satan would be better than Boxer.
I don't understand. Compare what to Boxer?
Carly FIorina:
"In an interview, Carly Fiorina, a top adviser [to John McCain], explains that any tax increases on 'middle- and working-class' Americans are off limits.
She says if a bipartisan coalition is 'creative enough' to fashion tax increases on wealthier Americans, that may prove palatable. (Source: Bloomberg)
Who cares?
An over-hyped, under-competent, big-government crypto-socialist posing as a capitalist ...... running against one who doesn’t pose as a capitalist.
Even DeVore, Hunter, Palin, etc. can’t help the Republican PArty. It is dead. People like DeVore and the rest should be working towards an effective third party.
Carly Fiorina, the former Hewlett-Packard chief who is now the Republican National Committee's "Victory Chairman," was discussing consumer-driven health insurance at a breakfast with reporters when she proposed "a real, live example which I've been hearing a lot about from women: There are many health insurance plans that will cover Viagra but won't cover birth-control medication. Those women would like a choice." For effect, the woman frequently mentioned as a possible McCain running mate repeated: "Those women would like a choice."snip
Like McCain, she broke from Republican orthodoxy, talking up the need to fight climate change and asserting that Bush was "wrong" about Iraq before McCain talked him into the surge.
ROTFL!!
