Roll GA Freepers, I understand that Sean Hannity will be covering it... I lived in Smyrna (Campbell High School) in my youth...

I’m really not trying to be confrontational here, but just how long do these ‘Tea Parties’ have to continue to go on before it is decided that they are doing practically nothing?

Is it legal to carry a pitchfork to a political rally?

And you know they are ineffective because...

?
??
???

I know for a fact that they are raising awareness. Awareness comes before action.

First of all, King George would have thought the same thing.

Secondly, it is a ‘no brainer’ that the tea parties themselves will not bring about immediate change.

Thirdly, The tea parties do give courage to the average citizen who feels they have no advocate and encourage them to stand up. Once we have empowered the powerless, the country starts to move back to its Constitutional roots.

That is a very good question. Considering you have to have a permit to protest...maybe.

Well said!

And I might add... how in the world did someone like Oblahma get elected? It was through WORDS, mostly lies, but still. They were mere words. Persuasion. Noise. Visibility. Groundswell of hopey-changeyites.

We can do the same. Turn the tide.

Tea Parties may be more symbolism than substance, but what is remarkable is that thousands of ordinary folks are motivated and mobilized to come out of their “comfort zone” and be a part of something. This is not wasted effort. These thousands of people will come out, have their say, and then think, “What should I do now?”. And they will do SOMETHING. Maybe for the first time in their lives. And together, we will make a difference.

That’s just the thing - I don’t know. What I do know is that in order for rallies to be effective they must make otherwise disinterested people take notice. I just don’t see this happening due in large part to the general media blackout of anything that goes against Dear Leader’s policies.

It’s not much of an accomplishment to get like minded people together to talk about how like minded they all are - that’s nothing more than preaching to the choir. The only way to really make an impact is to get the mushy middle (troglodytes who spend their free time debating over who should win on American Idol) over to our side. Figure out how to do that and then we may actually see some changes for the better.

The particular thread was started and an announcement of a MEDIA MARCH, a grassroots activist effort to combat the “media blackout” There is much more too this than “meets the eye” and I think if you understood what was going on we would be in some agreement. Our ideals may not be so far apart, but there may be more promise on the horizon than you realize.

I don’t think you are being confrontational. I do believe you are an armchair critic and as long as the majority sits in their armchairs instead of taking action, not much will change. The teaparties are getting some notice and spreading by word of mouth. Little by little, the armchair critics are getting out of their Lazyboys and starting to realize that actions CAN speak louder than words.

Hi All, I received the following messages concerning Tea Party events and wanted to share this information. I don’t sign anything without reading it either!

Copy Of Message I Received:
“Heads up everyone! If you attend any function like these please be aware Obama has people with petitions at these events trying to get signatures and information on people attending these events. We need to not sign any petitions without know WHO it is asking for them. We need to be careful since, “big brother is watching”.”

Copy Of Someone’s Reply To The Message:
“We went to the Orlando Tea party a couple of Saturdays ago and a gentleman was walking around with a petition for a citizen’s initiative for a constitutional amendment. People were signing it and when he approached me, I told him I didn’t know anything about it and I wanted to read it first. He was very annoyed at me (really nasty) and told me that he couldn’t imagine why everyone wouldn’t want this constitutional amendment (I don’t even remember what it was). I told him that, unlike our elected officials, I didn’t sign anything without reading it. He glared at me and walked away. After reading your e-mail, I’m glad I didn’t sign it.”
