Republicans see streaks of red in Connecticut’s blue regions

For Republicans, Sen. Chris Dodd isn’t the only vulnerable Democrat in Connecticut.

They see potential in several congressional districts despite the Democrats holding all five House seats and the state turning a darker shade of blue in the last two cycles.

“From a big-picture perspective,” said Chris Healy, the chairman of the Connecticut GOP, “the legislative actions by this Congress in concert with the Obama administration are causing many people to express serious doubts about what they voted for in the last election.”

The GOP already has two House candidates lined up and a top contender in state Senate Minority Leader John McKinney. McKinney is considering a run against Rep. Jim Himes (D). His father, Stewart, held Himes’s seat for 17 years until he died in 1987.

To win, these challengers are counting on Connecticut voters’ independent streak as well 2010 being a referendum on President Obama and congressional Democrats’ economic policies.

Connecticut may be more marginal than its reputation.

I grew up in Connecticut and still consider myself a nutmegger. Of all the northeastern states with the exception of New Hampshire, Connecticut had conservative tendencies. Unfortunately they have been steamrolled by the liberals. Anger might at least move them back to the moderate range.

One might hope from afar that the voters in the CT-3rd District might consider something that the cat DIDN'T drag in.

Connecticut was the state where ACORN sponsored its infamous bus ride for (tresspassing) demonstrations on the well-manicured home lawns of AIG execs, the Saturday before last. The media gave the ACORN radicals and their lawlessness all the attention they craved, and then some. Kind of reminds me of a scene of Red demonstrators in pre-Revolutionary Russia in “Dr. Zhivago”, except no violence - at least not yet. But it definitely fanned the flames of a potential electoral backlash against the ‘Rats.

Don't know if you're aware of this or not, but there are currently zero Republicans in the House from all of New England. Kind of boggles the mind.

Might the Obama election really bleed the Democrats so much that we have a 1994-like GOP takeover of the House and Senate?

An very, very religious conservative die hard Republican associate of mine told me he was voting for Obama because he believed that Obama would so damage the Democrat party that we would take back Congress in 2010 and the presidency in 2012.

Was I wrong in telling my conservative associate that he was a treasonous traitor for voting for Obama?

Might a long term Democrat breakup be starting?

Her seat hasn’t been competitive since the 80’s.

I don’t have a good feeling about winning back CT house seats. If one of the 3 competitive ones were open maybe but I can’t see them throwing out their new beloved Obama servants unless they are screw-ups like Sam Gedjenson the last rat to lose.

Jim Maloney didn’t even lose in 1998 when he was regarded as the one of the most vulnerable rats in Congress.

I think Maloney was the last pro-life member of the delegation, even if he was a Dem. I can’t recall the last pro-life Republican (John Rowland ?).

I live in CT, and this state is pretty blue. Not as blue as CA or NJ, but damn blue. The state is too small and there is not enough middle class rural and suburban voters to offset the inner city Dem votes from New Haven, Bridgeport, and Hartford and the yuppie Dem votes from Greenwich, Stamford, and Darien.

Living in stamford I cannot tell you how many times I’ve seen an Obama/Biden sticker on a $60,000 car around here.

This is just Obama giving a literary finger to Dodd.

Obama is jealous of Dodd’s ability to write the law, so he commissioned this article.

Obama is only adding more written propaganda to his spoken aphorisms and entertainment TV repertoire.

I hope this isn’t the same John McKinney that blamed the 2002 defeats of himself and his daughter Cynthia on the Jews, and spelled it out: “J-E-W-S.”
