There are a handful of times in life where you get to experience something that has the feeling of brushing the presence of greatness. In my life at various times that has been something I didn't always realize up front. But having returned from a day and a half and a sum total of nine events over that period of time with one person in particular I have to tell you... I think I did this weekend.
In December of 2006 I wrote a column in which I was the first pundit in America to predict that Barack Obama would be president in 2009. I predicated that theory on a number of variables, but specifically foreseeing the possible match-up against a candidate John McCain, I felt that the overwhelming historicity of the race, the lack of specifics that the substance would come down to in the debate, and the inability for a candidate like McCain to take Obama on squarely would work against him, and in favor of Obama. Boy did I call that one...

“Long story short I’ve just completed two days and nine events with Governor Huckabee. “
Long story short, his prediction/endorsement is more self-interested than anything else.
Huck was not a genuine fiscal conservative and after $16 TRILLION in Obama spending what we will need more than anything is FISCAL DISCIPLINE.
Hmmm, I thought Huckabee stayed in to get McCain in and push Romney back.
Huckabee? Fuggetaboutit!
Long story short WSOG - I guess you drank the National Review (Romney financed) koolaid...
How do you explain Duncan Hunter’s endorsement of Huck?
Yeah - Ann Coulter couldn’t either when she finally went on Huck’s show...
Is this the same Huckabee that destroyed the GOP in Arkansas because he developed a “tic” and every time he twitched he acted like a liberal socialist?
Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo.................
Poor guy has a (to borrow from Bernie Goldberg)"slobbering love affair" with Huckabee. He thinks that Huck can win blacks and Hispanics vs. Obama. Huck has the liberal magic touch "lacking in every other GOP candidate."
> Huck has the liberal magic touch “lacking in every other GOP candidate.”<
IOW, just another RINO.
the fair tax is the most fiscally responsible and conservative method of funding the government that has been proposed. For you to say he is not a fiscal conservative is just wrongheaded.
There's the word!
I have nothing against Huckabee, directly, and I will vote for anyone that runs against Obama. That said, I truly believe we (Conservatives) will be better off if Huckabee, Romney and Palin decide not to run. They all have their own little niches and will be divisive to the process.
If we do not make significant gains in 2010, 2012, may not be something that a Conservative even need concern himself/herself with I think. There is always someone in the wings, that the pundits and prognosticators haven’t even considered, that will take up the mantle and surprise us all.
If Cantor can get the face time and the right people around him, he may very well be the one. He is a solid conservative. He is one of us. So many variables, so many possibilities, and I have no desire to anoint anyone three years before the time. So, we shall see.
You are wrong! Huckabee governed to the left of Bill Clinton on fiscal matters. Don’t care what he supports but his governing record says liberal. Not to mention when he was Governor he was against home schooling. Funny how running for office candidates change to fit a perception.
The man is NOT a fiscal conservative and I wouldn’t trust him in the WH at all. I want someone who is a true fiscal conservative not to mention my taxes would rise significantly with Fair Tax as would others that pay their taxes.
When he comes on Fox I change channels or turn it off!
so is calipari going to take the gig?
I like Huckabee on social issues largely.
But on illegals and spending he falls short.
He is a great talker and very unflappable which in this age matters....a lot.
I’m a Palin man...make no mistake.
I’d dig up a mile of sewer pipe just to punch a chad for her.
I believe he was in the bag before they fired Gillespie. A very bad year for me and sports. My Sooners were on the threshold of greatness in hoops and football, and choked. heh :)
Unless inflation and unemployment keep rising from now until 2012, Obama is probably going to be re-elected. The media will make sure of that. Therefore I recommend we put up the sacrifical lambs Mitt Romney and Gov Jon Huntsman of UT in 2012. Let Romney and Huntsman blow off their vast personal fortunates trying to take down Obama and lose. This way we will be rid of these RINOs. After 8 years of Obama, hopefully people will tire of Marxism and want change of the conservative kind. This would give Palin or anyone else plenty of time to enhance their knowledge of foreign policy, economics, and national security matters.
So, whether or not he's a fiscal conservative doesn't matter - he's hardly in the same category as the pukes from the NE or the big states.
