Meteorolgists are investigating and trying to explain widespread reports on the Eastern Seaboard of flashing lights and a noise that sounded like a loud explosion in the sky last night. A spokesman for Virginia Beach police said the city's emergency call center received dozens of calls shortly after 9:30 p.m. Sunday reporting "a loud explosion, like a 'boom,' that rattled their windows." He said several of the callers also described a bright flash of light accompanying the sound. The National Weather Service received similar reports along the East Coast along the Eastern Shore and into Maryland around the same time. There have been no reports of damage, and meteorologists from the National Weather Service office in Wakefield said there was no immediate explanation for the reports.

In all seriesness, yesterday afternoon was clear but very windy in the Raleigh area. Doing yard work, I kept hearing what sounded like rolling thunder.

there have been similar occurrences off NYC, New Jersey and West coast as I recall. Reports keep trickling in

Husband and son said bright flash almost knocked them off their feet- lifelong exposure to lightning but never this intense

yes, it could be “wather” but why are SO many people seeing this and seeing it as unusual?

We are either in a meteor storm path or there is something else going on

We had a “thunderstorm”, and it definitely went “Boom !”

Not fooled for a moment by the sight of “lightning” in the sky, I began looking for my Acme UFO Detection Kit - but was unable to find it until this morning. (It was under the bed beneath which I had been hiding.)

Dang ! I had promised myself I would not worry about UFOs,or invaders from the Planet Yooknowhichwun,or Death Stars,or .....

That was my first thought too: “Some fighter pilot was feeling a mite frisky.”

I too have noticed that there seems to have been an increaes in these things. This might be tinfoil hat but I'm wondering if we are in the path of a meteor storm and the government knows something worse is on its way.

I wonder that too

If there was something bad in the known future, certain powers in the world might cause a lot of its economy to “disappear” as they cached for their own survival, and leave the govts to spend money like “there was no tomorrow!”

Like all those nutjobs who believe the predictions of a return in about 2012 to our solar system of “Planet X” and all the cosmic debris it brings before and after it passes through

hmmm. Wonder if anyone has physically inventoried the world’s govt-held gold lately.

It seems like there has been a lot of these reportings lately. I wonder if they have anything to do with debris from the satellite that was crashed into?
