Jim,
I believe his copying of FreeRepublic Content and descriptions is a violation of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act. As such, a letter pointing this out to the company hosting his website should shut it down immediately.

Never go on their threads. Sad that they feel so vindictive.

All because a silly bunch of Romney supporters can not understand that most freepers don’t support Mitt because he isn’t a conservative- NOT because he’s a Mormon.

Just look at this thread and see all the ones who are proud to be on the Mormon haters list. They mostly post on religious threads and don't get involved in any of the political discussions. This site is turning from a conservative political site into a religious bible thumping haven. That's not a good thing IMHO.

I had never heard of FRAM. or S.P.A.M., so I followed the link you provided and found their web page. S.P.A.M. lists 89 members. That was far higher than I expected; but then I realized that one has to sign up as a member to comment on one of the blogs.

Greg West, the proprietor of the website, had just posted a blog entry about this very thread. Among other things, he wrote,

I'm not sure what's going on behind the scenes. All I'm doing is keeping a running list of the threads started by anti-Mormons and publishing them on the FRAM Report. If Latter-day Saints see that the forum's rules are slanted to favor anti-Mormonism, that one of their religion moderators is one of the anti-Mormons, and they decide to leave FR or withhold financial support, that's up to them.
I do not wish to inflate his membership numbers, so I will post my reply here:
As a defender of Mormonism and the LDS Church, I cannot agree with Mr. West's characterization of Free Republic. I do not believe that Free Republic's rules are slanted as Mr. West alleges. Nor have I seen anything to suggest that any of the FR religion monitors is an "anti-Mormon."

No doubt some of the posters to Free Republic can fairly be considered "anti-Mormon." So what? Whenever they post something erroneous about the LDS Church, it gives us the opportunity to correct the record. Unlike some truly anti-Mormon sites on the Internet, Free Republic does not prevent us from telling our side of the story.

I do hope that Mr. West does not intend to lead a boycott of Free Republic. The press release from the Church on 9 March 2009 states clearly, "The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints as an institution does not call for boycotts."

Finally, I would let Mr. West and like-minded persons in on a little secret: Anti-Mormons are good for us. They keep us on our toes. Moreover, they generate interest in the Church, giving us the opportunity to reach people who might otherwise ignore us.

I worry much less about what the enemies of the LDS Church may do or say than the misbehaviors of the members themselves. My advice to Mr. West would be to discard his enemies list and find something productive to do.

Dear Jim Rob, Be of good cheer, millions of people have visited and posted on Free Republic and millions more will in the future. This web site is there premiere conservative web site on the Internet, therefore it is a target for those who want to curtail access to the truth and to conservative principles.

The reason why you and your web site are being attacked is because this web site stands for the TRUTH. Some people like the person in question do not want the truth, because THEY HAVE AN AGENDA (yes I am yelling). For the individual in question, their agenda is to proclaim the message that all other Christian churches and denominations are totally apostate and the so-called "Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints" is the only true church on earth proclaiming the only "true gospel" that was supposedly exclusively given to Joseph Smith. According to the Mormon church, all other gospels, churches and denominations are false and in order to be saved, one must become a Mormon. That is what Mormons believe and teach and that is exactly where this individual is coming from. He and a number of other Mormons are primarily using Free Republic as a soap box for proselytizing. Free Republic does NOT push this agenda and many theologically astute individuals on FR have merely proclaimed the truth regarding Mormon doctrine with the result that this individual and a number of other disgruntled Mormons have taken offense and want to shut you and Free Republic up.

Jim Rob, multitudes of conservatives are indebted to you and your vision regarding FR. We will continue to stand by and with you in our support. Do not be discouraged, this individual and group have made you a target and attacked FR precisely because of your unwavering pursuit of the truth and men do not want the truth when it interferes with their agendas. Hang tough, keep up the good fight, thank you for Free Republic and never forget this:

You are not alone!

I have read a ton of Mormon threads over the past year, mostly connected with Mitt Romney’s run for the presidency.

It seems to me that most Freepers have been polite about this. A few have said that the Mormon religion is false, but they regularly say that about Catholics as well, and it’s no skin off my nose as a Catholic.

It was the left-wing media that tried to make Romney’s problems a matter of anti-Mormon bigotry. For the most part, I don’t think it was true. To some extent, Romney’s campaign also raised this issue for political advantage, which I thought was unfortunate. I was opposed to him and favored Fred Thompson, not because Romney is a Mormon, but because he had a poor record on abortion and health care and gay marriage. He tended to say one thing and do another, which has absolutely nothing to do with his being a Mormon.

Hopefully this Mormon campaign against FR will not be the case. It would be very counterproductive, because the chief enemies of the Mormon way of life are not Christians, even if some may say unkind things, but politically correct leftists who have far more power to do damage.

As a Catholic, I don’t believe that all Mormon articles of faith are true; as Mormons, they don’t believe that all Catholic articles of faith are true. That’s why I am Catholic and they are Mormon.

Hopefully, we can recognize this and be polite about it and work together on those issues about which we agree, such as marriage between a man and a woman, family, the right to life, and freedom from tyrannical government suppression of religion. Catholics and Evangelicals have found it advantageous to work together on these issues, although we certainly have our differences. I would hope that Catholics, Orthodox, Protestants, Mormons, and Jews of good faith can all work together, too.

There are bad Catholic politicians like Teddy Kennedy or Nancy Pelosi. There are bad Mormon politicians like Harry Reid. Being critical of Mitt Romney is not, in itself, an attack on the LDS Church.

It would seem as though you have been duped my good FRiend. I don't know the guy that started the site referenced but I can tell you that neither I, nor any other LDS freepers I know here have been contacted. That includes many of the more prominent LDS posters here. I haven't heard one word of this “uprising” & would think I might be on that “list” to be contacted.

Many of us LDS Freepers are often dismayed by the efforts of some of the anti-LDS contingent (which is very vocal but small, & many of which tend to be the same cabal in the anti-Catholic threads as well), but I am one who thinks the “anti” crowd tend to hang themselves here w/ their activities. The “by their fruit ye shall know them” type of thing.

However, it would seem as though this thread could have been avoided by perhaps more thorough investigation. Unless there's more info you have in your possession about the exodus & potential threats against FR brought on by LDS freepers, than one guy w/ a site, then this would seem to be much ado about nothing. A simple FM to any number of us would have put this to sleep w/o causing the potential firestorm.

I, for one, come here for info that has absolutely nothing to do w/ religion most of the time(other than perhaps the battle for the freedom of from time to time). This is your site, we play by your rules. No conspiracy to do otherwise. Next time, please feel free to FM me or others here so we can avoid this kind of very unfortunate type of thread.

In case it hasn’t already been noted, he’s hawking a book on his blog. He’s just a publicicty hound trying to drum up business. Also, if pointing out the weaknesses and problems with the LDS church makes somebody an “anti-Mormon”, then by his own definition he’s an “anti-Christ” since a Mormon is someone who believes all other churches are in error, false, etc.

Sounds like the Romney M.O. to me. He and his “bots” have set out on a destruction campaign of anything criticizing his “conservative” credentials. And lets face it FR is a pretty Romney unfriendly place because we KNOW his credentials and they are anything but conservative. There are some supporters here, those are the ones to watch IMO.

This is unfortunate, I really appreciated what the Mormons did with respect to Prop 8 in California. My wife has many friends who are in the homeschool circle that she runs in. Let’s stop eating our own already.

As a long time Mormon FReeper, this is the first I've heard of this. If anyone has a link, do share! Jim has been nothing but great for Mormon FReepers, and also FReepers of other faiths. Hmmmm.... Not sure about Muslims though... ;-)

As for Romney, he is damaged goods at best, a Mass. liberal at worst. Not a good track record. Gov. Palin or Jindel is a much better pick for those who believe in small, limited gov't and promotion of good moral values in the public arena.
