I understand there is a new anti-freeper site started by disgruntled former and present Mormon FReepers and it is their intention of bankrupting FR during the coming Freepathon by withholding their donations and disrupting our activities. Well, all I can say is, if they feel that badly against FR, by all means they should withhold their donations and drop out of FR. But it they attempt to disrupt our operations I will guarantee they will no longer be members of FR. If that is their wish, so be it.
I'm not going to try to defend FR from their claims of religious persecution, but I will say that Mormons have and always have had free reign to post their threads on FR just as all other religious groups have enjoyed. Free Republic defends the right to freedom of religion and has always welcomed religious discussion and always will. And Mormons have always been welcome here. I have absolutely nothing against Mormons.
If you are one who has left or is leaving, I wish you well, but disruption of FR is not welcome and will not be tolerated.
And this is not the first time such activity has been attempted by groups of disgruntled former FReepers. Good luck with that. There is always some group that feels FR should be bent to their way of thinking and end up saying my way or the highway. Well, I don't know about you, but I'm not changing so I guess it's the highway. Is it Feb 8 yet?

It is a double edged sword. Your fruits are on display, and given that you have judged individuals who themselves are simply disagreeing with a philosophy, your acts are much more egregious.
And yes people often ask question they never intend to have answered, often to preface a further statement or question. It is a mechanism for thought and discussion.
You may see fit to judge me as you will, but that is not of any matter to me.

“betraying sacred covenants” is talking about what goes on in the Temple, or discussing Garments (LDS underclothing of a sacred nature).
What don’t you get? Most of those “Mormons are wonderful” threads are posted by anti-Mormons. THere is a whole squad on here that like to wink at each other while they start crap. Look it up.
I agree that some of the LDS church’s practices are unusual (especially the secret/sacred temple stuff), but what do you find disturbing? I can’t think of anything that is that out there when compared to other mainstream religions.

I am at the top of the list of anti-Mormons. I am a fairly new Christian and if I have hatred in my heart for Mormons, I want to correct it. I was a sixth generation Mormon.
My husband is a Mormon, my mother and brother are Mormons, and literally hundreds of aunts, uncles, cousins and most of my neighbors and co-workers.
I have a problem with Mormonism trying to pass itself off as just another Christian religion. It is not. While it is certainly the right of every Mormon to believe as he/she thinks fit, Mormonism has very little to do with what you know as Christianity. Do you think it is hateful to say so?
Well, let's see. Last week, one of these threads was about an LDS professor who claimed there was open bigotry toward Mormons in Utah. (BTW, he got many dissenting letters to the editor from Mormons after that)
And, now, you're telling us that these so-called "hateful" anti-Mormons are posting "Mormons are wonderful" threads!

I’m not anti-Mormon either. I wrote that to you because I still believe Mormons are generally decent people and I believe you have decent intentions. It certainly wasn’t to say, “Hey, Restornu, here’s how to deceive people on my side of the debate better!” What sense would that make? And I addressed you in particular because I hoped you might be responsive to it, and I believe that you don’t intend to antagonize Catholicism. But how many times have we ended up sparring?
You should also know that I bother to spar only with people whose posts I consider to be worthy of respect. Well, that’s not entirely true. There are some times when the statements against Catholicism by certain posters are so outrageous that I feel compelled to set the record straight.
I can't say if what you said about Mormonism is hateful because I don't know much about it.
The only thing I stand firm against is the hatred and venom coming from the anti-Mormon brigade here on FR. That is all. That is the only reason why I started posting on this thread.

people should stop worrying about other peoples beliefs and deal with the Constitutional Usurper claiming to be POTUS. Let God deal with the differences in belief in him later, let us mortals deal with things we can handle now.

I do also have to say I wasn’t calling Mormons “morons.” I should’ve realized that other people have called Mormons morons because of the similarity of the two letters comprising each word. Please know that was not my intention at all. Now I’m embarrassed for having written that after writing to you not to accidentally antagonize! Maybe the spelling similarity prompted my head to come up with “moron” faster than “idiot,” but please know I only meant that one poster, certainly not Mormons.

He has me pegged on the mormonism=comic book thread, but I am omitted from the “permanent list” he has on the right side of the page. I am obviously not doing enough to counter the false doctrines of the LDS here on FR...
And just to set the record for spamlds and any other gold plated apologist for this cult out there, I know and genuinely care about many “mormons” in my life. However, I truly detest the teachings and operations of the cult which calls itself the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
You do see where I was summoning you to post #530 to make a point that you were a sincere Mormon, not a mole out to make Mormons look bad, don’t you? He had alleged that all the closed Mormon threads were by fake Mormons, and you were the person who started most of the closed Mormon threads.
