I understand there is a new anti-freeper site started by disgruntled former and present Mormon FReepers and it is their intention of bankrupting FR during the coming Freepathon by withholding their donations and disrupting our activities. Well, all I can say is, if they feel that badly against FR, by all means they should withhold their donations and drop out of FR. But it they attempt to disrupt our operations I will guarantee they will no longer be members of FR. If that is their wish, so be it.
I'm not going to try to defend FR from their claims of religious persecution, but I will say that Mormons have and always have had free reign to post their threads on FR just as all other religious groups have enjoyed. Free Republic defends the right to freedom of religion and has always welcomed religious discussion and always will. And Mormons have always been welcome here. I have absolutely nothing against Mormons.
If you are one who has left or is leaving, I wish you well, but disruption of FR is not welcome and will not be tolerated.
And this is not the first time such activity has been attempted by groups of disgruntled former FReepers. Good luck with that. There is always some group that feels FR should be bent to their way of thinking and end up saying my way or the highway. Well, I don't know about you, but I'm not changing so I guess it's the highway. Is it Feb 8 yet?

I was reading all posts in the thread; the things in your post (which I mentioned in my reply) caught my attention, I therefore chose to address myself to you in regards to them.
I am unacquainted with FReeper “humblegunner” either on FR, or away from it. We are not related in any way, to the best of my knowledge.
I have a certain number of children; I know where they are, and “humblegunner” is not among them. I did not even ping him/her on my post to you.
Your apparent sarcastic dismissal effort,(”That is sweet.”) is almost admirable, but falls a bit short of serving you well. I was “holding up a mirror” to your own words, commenting on what they seemed to (only in my observation) reflect.
I left the door wide open for your clarification - your way.
In lieu, you first dismiss me, then mock me. I am not nearly so thin-skinned that your reaction disturbs me to any action other than the courtesy of a reply.
Clearly, I struck a nerve. I’m so bad that way sometimes.

I have no desire to write about religion. I would rather the discussion stick to our political situation. That is what is urgently needed at present. That is what is on my mind. I think that is what FR is for. I am disgusted by the fact that there is so much hatred in some people's minds that they can't help themselves. They inject the religious discussion “out of the blue” into the threads.
Are you still a member of spam Fred?, you suggested a change in the "next wave" graphic? Do you support greg west's attack against FR. What say you

So what comments specifically qualify as *hate*? Does posting facts about the Mormon church and it’s doctrines? It’s practices and beliefs? Does critiquing Mormon doctrine really = hating individual Mormons and why?
Well, the current stuff has at least been my angle. T.Don, we've had a few good in-depth discussions. So I trust your response to my query here:
Do you really think it's helpful to Christian-LDS dialog to pin a stereotypical "anti" label on someone? What if Christian FREEPERS went around calling LDS FREEPERS "protags" all the time? ("protags" for protagonists).
I mean, after all, before anybody even knew about the word "Mormon" -- Christians were labeled by Mormons as having 100% "corrupt" professing believers, 100% "abominable" creeds, that we were all wrong.
The late 19th-century Mormons then decided this assessment was revelatory, canonized, "Scriptural" stuff.
And ever since then, Mormon authors & missionaries & teachers have gone out of their way to label us all apostates.
Now that sounds rather protagonistic to me. Yet if I just went around calling LDS FREEPERS "protags" all the time -- it'd be not only impersonal but would get old real fast.
LDS have struck the first spiritual blow on Christians and have only raised the pot to world-wide status.
In light of this, why do you insist on using the "anti" term when you know that some Christians...
...are only responding to your beliefs -- and not (necessarily) you personally?
...--and-- that some have been provoked by being cast world-wide as "apostates?"
Fine, look it up yourself.
