Predation Did Not Come from Evolution
by Daniel Criswell, Ph.D.*
Although the origin of predation is poorly understood, it is incorrect to attribute to young-earth creation the assertion that predatory animals quickly and recently evolved the physical features necessary for predation. It is a common fallacy that carnivores evolved from a change in form and function. No physical evolution was required to change herbivores to predators--it was merely a change in behavior.
The view that an alteration of genomes and phenotypes, such as sharp teeth and claws, would have been required to supply the physical features for predation from herbivorous features common in plant-eating animals is not correct. The shape of the teeth, the ability to run fast for short distances, and all the other physical attributes given to predators can be used for acquiring plant food sources as well. A few examples of mammal diets will verify this quite well...

Allah will never get the satisfaction of seeing my head bow. You can pray all you want to Abraham's God with your butt stuck up in the air, but this boy will just laugh at you.
As I pointed out, there is indeed such evidence. Ring species show speciation in action, where a common ancestor is slowly evolving into two separate species. An example is the Ensatina salamander, where the intermediate populations are evident:
"These two forms are connected by a chain of populations to the north that encircles the Central Valley of California, and through this ring of populations the color patterns of the salamanders change gradually."
So you have the evidence, with the intermediate forms still existing. Speciation in action.
“Wow! It never even occurred to me to compare God with Hitler. You young earthers never fail to amaze me.”
What a genius... Darwin would be proud. You’re absolutely incapable of following logic. Makes you a great priest for your faith.
==Wow! It never even occurred to me to compare God with Hitler. You young earthers never fail to amaze me.
Actually, GG makes a good point. Many of the Jews being marched off to the ovens refused to believe what Hitler had planned for them right up to the moment of their death. Now I think we can all agree that Hitler was evil. His hatred towards Jews, Christians, and the God of the Bible is proof enough of that. But what about when someone good says they are going to punish evil? For instance, what if the Allies told Stalin’s USSR that we were going to hunt him and every single one of his Communist henchmen down unless they surrendered by such and such date? Let’s say they refused to surrender, so we followed through on what they thought was an idle threat, but what instead turned out to be a promise. There might be a few who marched “proudly to their deaths,” but I can assure you that the vast majority would react in absolute horror once they realized that it was too late to change their fate. And given what we know about the horrors of Communism, I think we can all agree that such a policy would have been unquestionably for the good.
We are not talking about Allah! Why are you trying to change the subject?
“Allah will never get the satisfaction of seeing my head bow.”
Trying to bring them out by calling their God Allah... you are a cheeky one aren’t you, Brit?
How does Gods eternal punishment compare with Hitlers exterminations? Unlike you, I don't think they are equivalent.
Could it be that God doesn't exist, and you might be a holocaust denier? Then they are equivalent in your mind, because they didn't or don't happen? I am just trying to help out your logic : )
I’m so glad someone is trying to persuade with evidence instead of insults and arrogance. I do appreciate that.
As far as my point, Even if there is some small form of what scientists are labeling evolution there is nothing on a broad scale. I could buy some environmental evolution and even some lower animal species change. I certainly don’t claim to know it all unlike your evolutionary brethren on this post. However out of all the supposedly millions of years of fossil data we have to dig through there is zero wide evidence of species carrying on from one to the next. With all there is in the world and all we have discovered, isn’t it a bit like believing in alien life? I may believe there is a chance because of various human arguments (and I don’t) but the evidence is only anecdotal so it is just that... a belief.
“We are not talking about Allah! Why are you trying to change the subject?”
Pepe LeGrande was trying to poke at us there... surely not even he is that ignorant.
He figured he’d get a rise by saying that.
Don't you believe in the God of Abraham? The same God that the Jews and Moslems believe in? Christians, Jews and Moslems are all called people of the book for a reason.
Aren't you talking about the God of the Old Testament? The God that Wrote Genesis? Allah? Elohim? Jehovah? He that shall not be named? What is the difference?
“How does Gods eternal punishment compare with Hitlers exterminations? Unlike you, I don’t think they are equivalent.”
Here we go with the word twisters... do you think you’re good at it, Brit?
“Could it be that God doesn’t exist, and you might be a holocaust denier? Then they are equivalent in your mind, because they didn’t or don’t happen? I am just trying to help out your logic : )”
And again, Smiley, twist as you will but it’s your soul that’s in danger.
You must have confused my beliefs with your own. Your buddy Hitler was an ardent follower of Darwin and his survival of the fittest mentality. Of course that’s what liberals do... try to claim everyone else is caught in sin that envelopes them.
“We are not talking about Allah! Why are you trying to change the subject?”
GGG,
I must apologize... you were correct. He was trying to change the subject. He knows we don’t believe that and he’s started the “Evolutionary word-twist” game. It’s what they start doing when they run out of arguments.
He figured hed get a rise by saying that.
True I did hope for a rise, but that is simply because most Christians are simply unaware or willfully ignorant of their common heritage.
I learned the Tanakh at the knees of a Rabbi, so I may have a little different view point than you Christians who don't seem to understand its origins.
Huh? You are the ones who have been reduced to "If you don't believe like us you will burn in hell!" I was merely elucidating who you actually believe in.
LeGrande holds the conceit that Allah is the same god as the Christian God.
LeGrande has many conceits, erroneous though they all appear to be on the basis of this thread, and is highly resistant to acknowledging error, out of false pride apparently.
Therefore, LeGrande has logically provided proof of conceit in every sense of the word, despite strong denial and protestations of insult. What other word so aptly describes the self-described, proudly hellbound, though? When humility is no doubt being perceived as humiliation, in the popular sense of course, there's not all that much left to be said.
“True I did hope for a rise, but that is simply because most Christians are simply unaware or willfully ignorant of their common heritage.”
Their common heritage, yes. But the difference between the god the Muslims serve and the God of Abraham is vast. Knowing the sons of Abraham? I think you’d be hard pressed to do anything more than annoy GGG or myself with that one. Most Christians know the story of the sons of Abraham and that there is a common ancestry. We do therefore know the God we worship.
By the by... Your Rabbi must be very proud.
Does Allah have a son, LeGrande?
Seems like something very fundamental just didn't take, doesn't it?
“I was merely elucidating who you actually believe in.”
Hallucinating... I believe the Bible and it does say that Jesus is the only way to heaven. You do not believe it so I was merely elucidating on who it is you do NOT believe in.
To me, to share what I believe is in no way reductive. Your arrogant opinion of exactly who I worship is of no consequence to me seeing as you have no faith in God yourself.
