COMMON TATOR (RAY) PASSED AWAY THIS MORNING
Posted on 03/28/2009 3:36:03 PM PDT by Lisa_from Buckeye Country
He passed peacefully around 11 am with his step son and step daughter by his side. I got the call from his step-son, but have just been able to calm myself to let all of you know. Please share your thoughts, prayers, or a favorite story of Ray.

Common Tator and I both joined in 1998. I have exchanged posts with him for over 10 years, and I learned almost all I know about political observation and analysis from his posts, which were not only educational but interesting, filled with history and his life experience in politics, business, and radio (he owned a station for a while).
He had so many tales of political campaigns that it was like a slice of American political history when you read his posts. He also loved his wife (who went on before him) and his daughters very much.
I am so sorry I never got to meet him in person, but I will always treasure the friendship we had here on FR.
Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and may perpetual Light shine upon him; may his soul and all souls, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.

[A]ll mankind is of one author, and is one volume; when one man dies, one chapter is not torn out of the book, but translated into a better language; and every chapter must be so translated; God employs several translators; some pieces are translated by age, some by sickness, some by war, some by justice; but God's hand is in every translation, and his hand shall bind up all our scattered leaves again for that library where every book shall lie open to one another.

Am truly sorry to learn this. May he rest in peace and may light perpetual shine upon him. Amen.
He was an erudite and effective voice for conservatism and for interpreting the news of the day and its portent.

My condolences to Common Tator’s family. I enjoyed having the privilege to engage in discourse with him on FR.
He, and they are in my prayers.

Lisa,
Hold fast to your faith and remember the love Jesus has for you. In your sorrow, may you receive the comfort that only He who died for us can provide. Ray was a wonderful FReeper-—a salt of the earth variety. You will always carry a piece of his heart in your own. He was loved and appreciated by many. May God bless and keep you.
