Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN) has introduced legislation that would "bar the dollar from being replaced by any foreign currency."

It’s already happening. I watched a factory in Vietnam last year setting up shipment of 200+ containers to the worlds largest retailer and demand payment in Euro’s. Since this was an item the sells very well the retailer was over a barrel and had no choice but to comply or piss off many hard won customers.
So the fact that I think she is great and this makes a nice patriotic statement, all it is, is just that.
If I have something you want and want to be paid only in Indian sacred cow dung for you to receive shipment...then you need to start bagging it up.
To save you the trip:
Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN) has introduced legislation that would “bar the dollar from being replace by any foreign currency.” A statement from Bachmann’s website:
Yesterday, during a Financial Services Committee hearing, I asked Secretary Geithner if he would denounce efforts to move towards a global currency and he answered unequivocally that he would,” said Bachmann. “And President Obama gave the nation the same assurances. But just a day later, Secretary Geithner has left the option on the table. I want to know which it is. The American people deserve to know.”
On Monday, Geithner and Bernanke both rejected the idea of a global currency in Congressional testimony. But in remarks to the Council on Foreign Relations yesterday, Geithner indicated he was open to the idea.
Hhhhhheeeeeeeyyyyyyyyyy, how about Mechele and Sarah on the ticket????
I've looked for the actually copy the proposed bill, but can't find it. I'm not quite sure what exactly she's trying to accomplish here. The US Code already expressly forbids the Dollar from being replaced by a foreign currency.
And, a US law would have absolutely NO IMPACT or authority to direct the IMF to do anything.
One gets rid of SDRs (a creation of the Carter-era IMF) by defending the IMF, which — just by the way — has been exceeding its original Bretton Woods brief for decades, and wasting great stacks of money into the bargain.
Thanks for the heads-up on her being on hannity tmw
How is her bill going to stop the world’s other ~197 countries from replacing the dollars that they are holding with other currencies? (Or stop them from adopting a global currency, for that matter?)
The GOP is a bunch of elitist, go-along-to-get-along wussies. I’m pretty sure that I’ll be a registered Independent soon.
Geez, I always said the only woman I could vote for was Ms. Thatcher, but I have to admit, These two ladies could convince me otherwise!
The more of them I see, the more I like them both.
We need 300 more just like her!
She is my hero today. A bright spot on the bleak horizon of
American economics!
Thank you Ms.Bachmann!
I could go for that ticket! Or vice-versa even!
Indeed we are. It's astounding that one state could produce both Michele and Al Frankenweenie.
And because she's from MN, it will be a battle royale every two years for her to keep her seat.
The Minnesota media and state Democrats (now there's a redundancy) have done everything but try to institutionalize her for what they see as criminal insanity.
But that could be their next move.
Think how pissed off the Germans will be when she bans beer halls. |
Geithner is an idiot.
His keeper (Obama) is a communist.
What they are proposing is to have the Federal Government interfer with the operations of the free market by regualting private business risks for companies which are not receiving federal bailout money which is socialism.
The other thing they are proposing is the elimination of the American dollar and its replacement by an international currency which borders on treason.
Are you sure you are on the right forum??
