The weapons are coming from the Mexican military, not the United States. But hey, never waste a good crisis when you can use it to advance your own personal agenda. If you haven't joined the GOA, NRA and your State/Local Gun Rights Group, you should do so immediately. What a lying b***h. "Legal" "assault" weapons are rarely on the street. They're in normal civilians homes, or on the range, or in the field. "Assault" weapons sold legally, rarely end up in the hands of criminals or gang members. The vast majority of LEGALLY owned "assault" weapons have rarely been used in a crime.

If crime went down during the period stated, it was NOT BECAUSE of the "assault" weapons ban.

A cop would have to be a complete imbecile, to think that after any type of weapons ban were inacted, he were automatically safer.
