Steele Open To Presidential Run, Says Limbaugh Spat Planned
FinkelBlog ^ | Mark Finkelstein

Posted on 03/26/2009 5:38:36 AM PDT by governsleastgovernsbest

Is it time for RNC Chairman Michael Steele to say ’sayanora’? I’m starting to think so in light of his latest embarrassing and contradictory statements. [H/t Sam Stein, HuffPo--what can I say, that's where I found the story!]

From Stein column:

Speaking with CNN’s Don Lemon [video at link above]: Steele said he “would think about” running for the White House but only if “that is where God wants me to be at that time.”

Discussing his tiff with Rush Limbaugh in which he called Rushbo “incendiary and ugly,” Steele contended that it was all a part of a grand “strategic” plan. I’m very introspective about things. I’m a cause-and-effect kind of guy. So if I do something, there’s a reason for it… It may look like a mistake, a gaffe. There is a rationale, there is a logic behind it,” he said. “I want to see what the landscape looks like. I want to see who yells the loudest. I want to know who says they’re with me but really isn’t. It helps me understand my position on the chess board. It helps me understand, where, you know, the enemy camp is and where those who are inside the tent are,” Steele added. “It’s all strategic.”

I wish Rush would get some conservative celebrities together and just start a new party, frankly. The GOP is moribund.

GOP ... Liberal LITE
Libertarian ... tokabongnowar Party
Independence ... Libertarian Lite

There is another choice -- the American Party, founded by Rush Limbaugh and a long list of other conservative lights. Preferably, we could bring along everyone currently in the GOP except the RINOs.

I think Blackwell’s plan is totally reasonable.

It is the same as John McCain's, which I gather you also believe is reasonable. Here is the problem:

Impact of Amnesty: In analyzing the 2007 CIR bill, Robert Rector of The Heritage Foundation stated, “The main fiscal impact…will occur through two mechanisms: (1) the grant of amnesty, with accompanying access to Social Security, Medicare and welfare benefits, to 12 million illegal immigrants who are overwhelmingly low skilled; and (2) a dramatic increase in chain immigration, which will also be predominantly low skilled. The bottom line is that high school dropouts are extremely expensive to U.S. taxpayers.

It does not matter whether the dropout comes from Ohio, Tennessee, or Mexico. It does matter that the Senate immigration bill would increase the future flow of poorly educated immigrants into the U.S. and grant amnesty and access to government benefits to millions of poorly educated illegal aliens already here. Such legislation would inevitably impose huge costs on U.S. taxpayers.”

Heritage research concluded that the cost of amnesty alone would be $2.6 trillion. And the number of additional LEGAL immigrants who would join those who were the recipients of amnesty through chain migration, i.e., family reunification, would approach 70 million over a 20-year period, assuming there are only 12 million illegal aliens. We cannot assimilate such numbers. An amnesty would destroy the United States of America with the stroke of a pen. Amnesty is forever.

I've noticed Cedric has a predilection for stalking the McLoser threads

I've noticed that "McLoser threads" are distinctly inbred and vomited forth primarily to feed the neurotic fetishes of the "usual suspects".

McLame needs to join the RAT party. He'd fit right in. He should be tared and feathered for crossing the isle and sucking up to the rats. If you cannot [will not] see that then you have a problem.

This is a conservative website, not a sanctuary for mindless, brain dead, liberal, maverick McCaniac RINO drones.

McCain isn't gonna join the Democrat party.

Quit wigglin’ your little weenie at him, get off your butt and go find a candidate who can beat him in the primary.

McCain isn't gonna join the Democrat party.

Why should he when he's got plenty of ignorant lemmings to defend and vote for him./s

Precisely.

He must be defeated.

He's not leaving voluntarily.

I’d agree except it worked for McCain :-)

What do you mean, Rush was in on it?

Not that well. McCain is still in the Senate, not in the WH.

There were two “tells”.

1. The viciousness with which Rush ripped into Steele on air, very uncharacteristic of Rush, who is very polite by nature. It was unnatural and “canned”.

2. Steele, called Rush AT HOME and at night to “apologize”, meaning it's likely he had one of Rush's “secret”, private numbers all along. Would Rush have given such a number to someone he only knew as as “Mr. Steele” (as he referred to him on his show just hours before)?

Rush is a really smart guy and he's all about winning. He knew how dangerous it would be to have the public see him as the “leader” of the GOP, per the Emanuel/Soros strategy.

Hm. Thanks. Guess I’m pretty trusting of what’s on the surface, huh?

Blah, blah, blah...

Steele wouldn’t have a rat’s chance. I’ll just pray God tells HIM he’s NOT supposed to run and hope he listens to the same god.

Is that mean spirited? Hope so.
