WASHINGTON (AP) — President Barack Obama's pick for the No. 2 post at the Environmental Protection Agency is removing himself from consideration.

Jon Cannon, a professor of environmental law at the University of Virginia, says he is withdrawing as the nominee for deputy EPA administrator because of scrutiny surrounding the America's Clean Water Foundation.

How many withdrawals now? How many had to be eliminated because their background did not check out (tax evasion, etc.)? I hope someone has kept a list.

I never heard of so many telling any President " Thanks, but no thanks." I always heard that if called upon by your President, it was an honor to serve and one didn't turn that down. Do all of these people have something to hide? Or are they afraid of being connected to the Obama Administration? I wonder which is the motivation to say No.
