Obama Youth Brigade: Church Attendance Forbidden
By Jonas Clark
Is this the change you really voted for? President Obama has only been in office for two months. Now we have HR 1388. The Bill was sponsored by Rep. Carolyn McCarthy (D-NY) with 37 others. The Bill was introduced to the floor of the House of Representatives where both Republicans and Democrats voted 321-105 in favor. Next it goes to the Senate for a vote and then on to President Obama.
This bills title is called Generations Invigorating Volunteerism and Education (GIVE). It forms what some are calling Obamas Youth Brigade. Obamas plan is require anyone receiving school loans and others to serve at least three months as part of the brigade. His goal is one million youth! This has serious Nazi Germany overtones to it.
The Bill would forbid any student in the brigade to participate in engaging in religious instruction, conducting worship services, providing instruction as part of a program that includes mandatory religious instruction or worship, constructing or operating facilities devoted to religious instruction or worship, maintaining facilities primarily or inherently devoted to religious instruction or worship, or engaging in any form of religious proselytization. That means no church attendance or witnessing.
Again, is this what America voted for? Here is part of the HR1388 Bills wording:
SEC. 1304. PROHIBITED ACTIVITIES AND INELIGIBLE ORGANIZATIONS.
Section 125 (42 U.S.C. 12575) is amended to read as follows:
SEC. 125. PROHIBITED ACTIVITIES AND INELIGIBLE ORGANIZATIONS.
(a) Prohibited Activities- A participant in an approved national service position under this subtitle may not engage in the following activities:
(1) Attempting to influence legislation.
(2) Organizing or engaging in protests, petitions, boycotts, or strikes.
(7) Engaging in religious instruction, conducting worship services, providing instruction as part of a program that includes mandatory religious instruction or worship, constructing or operating facilities devoted to religious instruction or worship, maintaining facilities primarily or inherently devoted to religious instruction or worship, or engaging in any form of religious proselytization.
My reading of this potential law is that the Obama Youth would be prohibited from religious activities as representatives of Obama Youth. Which is fair enough — it is setting out to be a secular organization, as it should.
Goodness knows I have no time for Obama nor for his Fascist aspirations or secret-muslim agenda, but surely nobody would want it to be possible for the Obama Youth to be able to discharge their duties doing the work of Allah or the Reverend? Surely it is fitting and proper that this silly organzation operate as a secular entity — no Christian should even want to be associated with it.
“This stuff is happening way to fast”
It usually does.
Thanks for the post and heads up, Fiddlstix!
Ping! Ping! Ping!
Obama and crew mobilize their young fans for an army of worker ants. Of course, only liberal-friendly volunteer work will qualify. That’s why faith-bath stuff is explicitly excluded.
Sorry, Mr. Clark -- it does not say "no church attendance." It's standard, boilerplate "separation of church and state" language.
While there are plenty of reasons to oppose this program, it is not necessary to lie about what the language plainly does not say.
Thanks for the ping!
Xero should stick his noggin where the sun no shine.
It’d keep him outa trouble.
Who the H*ll is he to say someone cant attend church services?
Yeah, exactly like that.
Well, it's like this......
Doncha know......
It's Good To Be The King
Whats he going to do, drag people out of churches and flog them? How can this be even possible?!?
Here. Please....
Give them the “Taliban Treatment”.
I’m disheartened by so many ho-hum responses on this thread...ya know?
We have to be very accurate with our criticisms. If people go off half-cocked about this, and then the MSM can clearly show that it's bunk, it makes it very easy for them to dismiss ALL criticism of the program.
Do people really think that the thousands who sign up for this will suddenly agree to stop going to church on Sunday?
Do the Youth Brigade members get a red scarf like the Young Pioneers of the USSR? This damn Obama is really getting old fast.
