The Instinct of the Clueless
The American Thinker ^ | March 24, 2009 | Christopher Chantrill

President Obama has got it all wrong. The problem with the economy is not greedy bankers trousering their multi-million dollar bonuses. So his plan to fix the banks and tighten up on financial regulation misses the point.

The problem with this economy, with this nation, is greedy politicians and political activists. We are not talking about money greed either, although politicians have always insisted on their share of the loot. We are talking about a deeper, darker greed: the greed for power, for adulation, for ordering people about.

The president's new bank plan gives the government vast new powers. Well of course it does. Governments always think that the solution to a problem is an increase in government power.

It is surely time to update Dr. Johnson's famous saying: "Patriotism is the last refuge of a scoundrel."

I think we need to change the old saying into something we can believe in, something like this:

Compulsion is the first instinct of the clueless.

What do you think of that, Mr. President?

Would you pay your politicians out of your pocket for the services they perform?
At some local level possibly yes.
At a national level, a person would be a fool to pay for vapor and smoke.
We are not supposed to be working for “them”
They are supposed to be working for us - inasmuch as we ask them to get involved - if at all.
But we actually pay them to intrude on our lives and families - education, health care, the price of gas - just to name BO’s “top” priorities.
Well screw em.
I’ll be happy to deal with these issues my own way if they will just get their hands out of my pants.

I thought compulsion was the first instinct of the selfish and greedy lacking values. Patriotism is NOT the last refuge of the scoundrel - being brought up under child abuse is.

Which insults the majority who overcame that to become good citizens. I know that personally.

What a sad era of irresponsibility we live in. But change for the better is always there if we have the courage to fight for it. Change of attitude from dependence on government and taking responsibility for one’s own fate.

We can surely believe in our own talents and abilities over the “change you can believe in” that the Wizard of Ob hucks.

Our future potential and how we affect those around us is really what we have of true value. Giving that up to any government’s whims is slavery in the purest sense. The government’s already taken all our earnings (and subsequent generations) through massive debt.

We Americans can beat these bastards who sell our nation cheap. Diligence, weeding out the corrupt and rewarding those able to withstand the status quo while keeping our country’s needs and goals above their own.

Endangered species.

Repeat at every opportunity: Our PROBLEM is GREEDY POLITICIANS.

The problem could not have occurred without government help, but notice Goldman Sach’s influence over “our” government (Paulson, Geithner). Warren Buffet invests billions in Goldman, govt. gives bailout money to AIG, AIG gives $10B to Goldman.

Geithner’s new plan could increase govt. power, but it also continues the robbing of the taxpayer, for the benefit of those who the govt. deems “too big to fail.” The casino is crooked, and the blame goes to both those in government and some who are not in government.
