President Obama yukked it up again when he discussed the economy on "60 Minutes" last night, prompting his interviewer to ask whether leading the nation during a recession has made him "punch drunk."
The president laughed he later called it "gallows humor" at several points, particularly when he talked about pumping more money into General Motors and Chrysler.
"I just want to say that the only thing less popular than putting money into banks is putting money into the auto industry," he said.
Interviewer Steve Kroft interjected, "You're sitting here. And you are laughing. You are laughing about some of these problems. Are people going to look at this and say, 'I mean, he's sitting there just making jokes about money'?"
"Are you punch drunk?" Kroft asked.
"No, no," the president replied. "There's got to be a little gallows humor to get you through the day. If you had said to us a year ago that the least of my problems would be Iraq which is still a pretty serious problem I don't think anybody would have believed it."
On Thursday night, Obama appeared on "The Tonight Show" and cracked jokes about his bowling, the pending first dog and his job.

Barry’s smoking something more than cigarettes and it ain’t pretty. But did the media expect more than they’re getting?
That great orator who produced a dud for his inaugural address and then offered a state of the union one could yawn through and Nancy Pelosi could jump to, is now looking like a joke. Unfortunately it’s a costly joke that America will have to live with until 2012.

I would suggest his nervous laughter is a sign he has no idea what he is doing or what his next move should be. It should be interesting to see if he makes it o his four year term without having a nervous breakdown.

Steve Kroft commented, and asked the questions of Obama, thousands of viewers wanted to ask:
KROFT "You're sitting here. And you are laughing. You are laughing about some of these problems. Are people going to look at this and say, 'I mean, he's sitting there just making jokes about money'?" "Are you punch drunk?" Kroft asked.
Did Rahm Emanuel order the Obama admin to keep laughing about the plan to make Democrats rich on deficits...... and to blame the coming US bankruptcy on Republicans?
Obama on 60 Minutes was clearly following orders----" No matter what happens, keep laughing." Obama's smirking and joking on Leno about Special Olympics was part of the plan.

he really was gleeful
He showed a similar attitude at being
chocked up in the video in this post:
the most damaging fact that he is "too cool for his own good":
Even when Obama went before the cameras to express outrage at the AIG bonuses, he seemed to nod to the contrived nature of it. During an East Room event, when Obama coughed, he drew laughter by departing from the teleprompter to crack: "Excuse me, I'm choked up with anger here." [youtube video at 2:50]
[The O needs to bring The Impeached and Disbarred in to give him acting lessons on How To Appear Sincere Before the Camera and How To Be Teary-eyed on Cue.]

The only reason that Iraq is the LEAST of Obama’s “problems” is that PRESIDENT BUSH had the gumption to stay the course and SURGE instead of SURRENDERING as the Democrat Socialists insisted on all along.

Good questions Uncle Ike- but I think the Senate will change the bill in enough ways to satisfy the president’s desire for the appearance of caring about the constitution.

Neither an historian nor a Constitutional scholar, but after a life time of watching these clowns, I will bet that he won’t sign it, but instead will seek regulatory changes to accomplish the same goal.

Why bother? After all, we know that "...the Constitution is a flawed document."

Hiya, Mom...
You give Obama more credit than I do — my impression is that he’s so tone-deaf that he doesn’t even do ‘lip service to the constitution’ well....

This guy is an evil, evil man. I watched the clip about gallows humor and he really was gleeful. I heard that clip on the local AM talk show this morning. TOTUS wasn't there to bail him out.
