BUTTE, Mont. (AP) - A Federal Aviation Administration spokesman says 17 people are dead in a plane crash in Montana. Spokesman Mike Fergus says the single engine turboprop plane departed from Orville, Calif., and that the pilot had filed a flight plan showing a final destination of Bozeman.
Fergus says the pilot canceled his flight plan at some point and headed for Butte. The plane crashed about 500 feet from the airport while attempting to land and caught fire.

I saw that too. Either there's bad information going out, or very small children, "lap babies" perhaps were involved.
CNN and Fox both report a single engine Pilatus PC-12. But something isn’t adding up with the alleged number of victims vs the plane’s capacity.
“Fergus said the plane, a Pilatus PC-12 aircraft, was manufactured in 2001”
From a foxnews story that I posted above. I don’t think there is a two engine version of the PC-12.
All of a sudden the pilot lost control and went into a nose dive, said Kenny Gulick. He couldnt pull out in time and crashed into the trees of the cemetery.
Not trying to make light of a bad situation, but a red flag just went up.
This forum is saying it is a 9 passenger plane, but 17 people died.
An old joke went this way.. A cessna 172 crashed in a cemetery and so far the officials HAVE FOUND 300 BODIES. (it was a French joke).
Now I see that this plane crashed in a cemetery.
Sorry if this offends, but a flag is waving....

Which article states this was a twin engined plane?
Thank you.
My mistake for listening to a news media report.
OK
No Problem.
I like to chronicle just how goofed up media news reporting is.
Thank you.
The implication is that the plane crashed due to the black cloud. Sounds like a complete moron.
I think you read far too much into the post.
Very nice.
If you find out anything let me know, will ya?
An hour after a plane crash and you choose to make jokes of it. You’re right that is offensive.
Cruising the news networks now ... some people here are faster than me posting things - let ya know thru mail ...
I guess the death toll is now in question. Hold tight.
Not at all. No joke was intended.
I am saying that it sounds like somebody is playing a practical joke.
Add to it the fact that Fox initially pulled the story, then put it back up.

Still haven’t found anything on make and model (CNN FOX) ... FAA regs require seatbelts for every passenger unless they buckled two to a belt which is not allowed. Overloaded - maybe. If the plane can carry (as an example only) 4500lbs and if you add up all the weight of the passengers (say the average kid weighed in at 120 with ski stuff) and it’s within the envelope (counting of course fuel and pilot) then ... but again ... if they were putting two to a belt .....
The weather here in SW montana is terrible. We have winter storm warnings and advisories all over the place. God help the families.
That is odd as the reporter talking with Fox said it was (my word: balmy) 40 degrees. The photo showed brown grass with no snow. Are you SW of Butte?
