Former WABC radio news anchor George Weber was found dead inside his Brooklyn apartment this morning after failing to report to work for two days, sources told The Post. Weber, who would have turned 58 tomorrow, was discovered in his bed shortly before 10 a.m. today with multiple stab wounds to his neck after his bosses, concerned that he hadn't shown up for work, called cops. Police sources said they believed Weber had been murdered some time on Friday evening. "It's tough to imagine things like this happening in our neighborhood," said one neighbor, who did not identify himself. "It's really unsettling." There were no signs of forced entry, but a police source said the bathtub spigot was running and neighbors said the apartment had been ransacked. According to his web site, Weber was a news anchor for the talk radio station for about a decade, before he was let go last year. Since then, he has worked for ABC News, which provides national network news to stations across the country, including WABC. His blog contained an entry dated Friday, recounting several unpleasant encounters with bedbugs in his apartment, and lauding Mayor Bloomberg for setting up a Bed Bug Advisory Council last week. A source said police initially visited the building this morning at 1 a.m., but got no answer and did not want to break the door down. When they returned nine hours later, a neighbor guided them to a side door Weber kept unlocked.

Curtis is going to take this personally.
RIP.
No, George didn’t talk about things like that unless he was reporting a story.
Thanks for the post; links.
Condolences to George Weber’s family and friends.
That is a great point.
RIP George Weber.
I listened to George Weber for years. My sincere condolences.
Kuby would always leave when that segment was going on.
I got a feeling between the Guardian Angels and Kuby's mob connections. They will find out who killed him.
Wow. My condolences to all his family, friends and associates.
When I ran Steve Malzberg’s website while he was at WABC I had occasion to meet many of the people there when I dropped by at the studios to see Steve. He did not sound his age, he had a great radio voice and like all the people I met at WABC had a very likeable personality. He was also a fellow Brooklynite and blogger. I will miss him and his blog as well as his voice at WABC. Condolences to his family and friends.
Does any one know anything about his romantic life.
A lot of odd murders like this are homosexual.
What a sad and frightening thing. I really liked George Weber’s voice when he did the news for Curtis & Kuby’s show in the mornings. It was obvious just listening to him that he was a super nice guy. He was 50% of the reason I listened to that show, Curtis was the other 50%.
Sounds like there’s a lot we don’t know about what might have been going on here. Regardless, prayers for George’s soul and for his family’s and friends’ pain.
I remember a few years ago he had a girlfriend who had a child, he talked about her a few times, but after he was fired, of course he wasn’t in a Curtis and Kuby or John Gambling type setting where he could talk about his private life.
I wonder what brought the cops there at 1am?
I don’t know who the guy was but the reason I mentioned it was because many of the hard to explain murders that seem mysterious to us, that include elements of personal brutality like a knife or blunt object used in a passionate manner meaning many, many repeated blows, delivered on someone for no obvious motive, for instance a salesman in a hotel room on a trip or this man sleeping in his bed are often found out to be related to gay prostitution or some variation of it.
Repeated knife thrusts to the throat to a homeowner in bed are pretty unusual in burglaries but of course it could happen.
Just watching the local news now and the police think he knew his killer.
I'm sure the ideas in your comments are being seriously considered by some in the NYC government - particularly the one about the fines.
I ran into him on an elevator in New York City a few years ago with Curtis Sliwa. Didn't recognize Weber when I saw him, but the voice was unmistakable.
Prayers for his soul and the comfort of his family and loved ones -- and that they catch and convict the killer quickly.
I guess we were right.
“Blood was found throughout the ransacked apartment, but investigators think some of it belonged to the killer, believed to be a date Weber picked up Friday night, sources said.
One neighbor heard a scuffle, followed by several loud thumps Friday night, then silence. Witnesses have told cops they saw a man talking on a cell phone outside Weber’s home Friday night.
Investigators suspect that Weber arranged to meet hiscompanion over the Internet and were searching his e-mail and Web browser history, sources said.
The detectives, who discovered explicit photos depicting acts of sadomasochism in Weber’s bedroom, were also combing through the radio announcer’s cell phone records, the sources said.”
