4 cops shot, suspect dead after Calif. traffic stop
Police say suspect behind two separate shootings involving officers
OAKLAND, Calif. - Four officers were in critical condition and a suspect dead on Saturday after gunfire at a traffic stop led to a massive manhunt that ended in a shootout, police said.
Two officers were shot in the first incident just after 1 p.m. after they stopped the suspect's vehicle in east Oakland, said Oakland police spokesman Jeff Thomason.
The suspect fled the scene on foot into a nearby neighborhood, police said, leading to an intense manhunt by dozens of Oakland police, California Highway Patrol officers and Alameda County sheriff deputies.
Streets were roped off and an entire area of east Oakland shut to traffic.

That sounds like the route I took by mistake going to the airport, I followed a sign that took me off the Freeway too soon and had to drive clear across Oakland at 11 at night to find the airport I had never been to in my life, I was terrified.. blond hair stood out like a sore thumb in that part of town late at night.
No, but I don’t think he is going to like where he is now either.
Here’s a Lovelle Mixon from Oakland at a reunion personal connection site:

Man, that’s dodging a silver bullet.
At some point we have to stop biting the stick that is hitting us, and actually go for the person using that stick.
The gang situation in Oakland is bad news.
One thing likely to happen now is that they will roll up these gangs all the way to the Mexican border. When they get there, they should set up trenches with crewed weapons, and say FU to the teasonous A$$ Hats in Washington who allow this demographic warfare drug traffic from Mexico.
This may not have been an illegal alien perp, but the chances are that he was a drug runner, or a drug runner fugitive. No one else carries that kind of armament around and goes into full kill mode at a traffic stop. And then the perp goes to a high position with restricted access and dies rather than surrendering, in a fire fight. This is not police work, it is warfare.
I served as an officer in Canada. This tragedy makes me so sad, and angry at the same time.
Those drugs should not be making it across the border, which is actually an open border. And now it needs to be walled and fenced and heavily patrolled all the way from the California Baha Pacific to the Atlantic Ocean. Its not as if the Feds do not have the money now, they have billions which could be used to build this border "infra structure" instead of making new skate board parks in our cities.
Prayers up for those offcers and ther families and brothers under oath. It is a sad day, and one which need not have happened if people like Duncan Hunter had their way.
The first two cops probably had no vest. But the SWAT cops who went into the building had AT LEAST Type IIIA vests on...and he dropped two of them as well.
“I wonder if he is related to Tim Mixon.”
Who is Tim Mixon?
SO WHAT?
> OK, and?
Catch ‘em. Arrest ‘em if we have to, chase ‘em off if we don’t.
Thank you, this is beyond...I have few words.
OK revolting cat!
I kept my mouth shut reading post after post from you trying to start an argument about Cops v citizens. How bout you shut the hell up as this is not the forum to do it. I’m sure their will be amble opportunities for that discussion later. For you to use this occasion to further your agenda is wrong.
Assault weapons are fully automatic, like machine guns, pull the trigger once and many bullets are fired.
So the perp had a fully automatic rifle?
Don't know yet, but he was wanted:
"OAKLAND, Calif. -- Three Oakland police officers were killed, another gravely wounded and a suspect was slain in a gun battle with a SWAT team Saturday in two related shootings that have rocked the community, authorities said. . At an emotional Saturday evening press conference, Acting Oakland Police Chief Howard Jordan confirmed the deaths."
-snip-
"The officers killed were identified by Jordan as Ervin Romans, 42, and Daniel Saki, 35. The gunman was identified as Lovell Mixon, 27, Oakland. He was wanted for a parole violation, Jordan said."
I know this is second guessing but why was he out in the first place, I wonder?!
Oh no
Vallejo just a few miles north is.
