The Dirty Little Secret Is Out: Religious Faith and Evolution Are Incompatible
ICR ^ | March 20, 2009 | Frank Sherwin, M.A.

Posted on 03/20/2009 7:59:40 PM PDT by GodGunsGuts

In a recent book review, Jerry Coyne, professor of ecology and evolution at the University of Chicago, admitted that the secular worldview of macroevolution (the development of complex life from “simpler” forms) is at odds with Christian faith...

Secular Humanists who wanted to pretend God is dead and that they are Him, also wanted to popularize the idea that Christian Faith is incompatible with logic, reason, and Science.

Well,
God is not Dead
They are not Him
and Logic and Reason are not incompatible with Christian Faith.

The Big Bang agrees with Genesis - God Spoke and everything was. Likewise per the Quantum Mechanical Cosmological model - there was nothing and a fraction of a second later, all the energy in the universe was. “Let there be light”.

>>Then why does Genesis specifically say that
>>God formed man from the dust of the earth
>>instead of God formed man from the animals He created?

Both ARE true.

>>You cannot reconcile Genesis with

Maybe you can’t, but I suspect God can.

How long is one day?

How long is one second?

Got E=MC2?

It’s all relative.

Ooo, a new made up evoterm.

What’s “Christian fascism”?

That’s a term created by those that can’t adhere to Christianity. Those that define Christianity as they see fit, picking and choosing what applies to them or not.

As you know, it simply doesn’t work that way though.

That is such a retarded statement. Probably 95% or more of modern science has occurred since 1859, from medicine to space travel and everything in between.

Space travel is a marvel of engineering, not science. The space shuttle didn't just spring from a pool of goo, it was intelligently designed.

And guess what? Pre-Darwinian science was not contradicted by Darwin. Science has been progressing from the ancient Greeks through today. Evolution was no more revolutionary than quantum physics.

LOL! Darwin's goo-to-you idea is contradicted by every known law of thermal dynamics and energy conservation. If Darwin knew anything about science, he wouldn't have made that mistake . Quantum physics is another example of science that was corrupted - an original idea intended to explain clustering of radiation that has been perverted into "mysticism" that defies all common sense, in an effort of the Darwinist to convince us we "don't really exist", in support of the nihilistic worldview.

You don't accept it for religious reasons, but I wonder whether you're willing to admit it.

I don't accept Darwinistic science for both scientific and religious reasons. At least I admit religion is an influence on my worldview - evos who sacrifice their brains at the Temple of Darwin lie point-blank about their religion.

“Science invites skepticism.”

LOL!!!

The algoreacle declared the debate was over. And he’s got scientists in his pocket who agree with him.

Science is no less immune to being hijcked by godless liberals than anything (and everything) else!

I’m skeptical about multiverse theory along with string and membrane theory...but funny how those theories fly under the radar.

Not really, IMHO. The Big Bang was, according to Stephen Hawkings, deliberately designed so as not to give Earth a special place in the Universe. That is, one of the key “ideological” assumptions of the Big Bang is that Universe has no center of mass...that is, no center and no edge. The Bible would seem to indicate otherwise. For my part, I prefer Dr. Russel Humphreys’ and Dr. Hartnett
s biblically based YEC cosmologies. They make far fewer assumptions than the Big Bang, and they don’t have to invent inflation, dark matter, and dark energy to make them work.

All the best—GGG

Let's face it, scientists in this day and age just aren't all that bright. I place blame on the gubmint schools and welfare-fed universities.

When common sense discussion on websites like this can blow obvious holes through their multi-million-dollar "theories", you know there's a serious problem with modern research.

Science has no bone to pick with religion. It’s outside the realm of science, so it has no scientific tools to examine religion.

Funny, the studies about prayer indicate otherwise. And I wonder who funded these studies...?

Religion has no such bounds. It can take an opinion on anything, including science, and inform you that you must agree or you’re going to hell.

Endless strawmen an argument does not make.

Are we back to every question being answered with accusations of projection?

"We" never left projection being utilized in your every question.

You’ve been reading too many creationist coloring books if you think evolution has anything to do with thermal dynamics or energy conservation.

However, now that I know you don’t believe in quantum physics, either, I have a better sense of your entire approach to science.

No science in the Space Shuttle, since science died in 1859. Just some engineering.

This is a remarkable viewpoint.

You would have no Bible to worship, if not for the Roman Catholic Church.

No, there would be no Bible without God and His Son Jesus Christ.

And the fact that you think the Bible is what we worship speaks further to your misunderstandings.

The love and the beauty and the harmony of geocentric cosmology is something worthy of study, whether it's no longer accepted by science, or not. To quote the book jacket of a favorite of mine, The Little Book Of Coincidence, by John Martineau:

Venus draws a pentagram around the Earth every eight years. The Moon squares the circle. Everything in the heavens moves around everything else, dancing to the Music of the Spheres.

The science of the cosmos has changed immeasurably since the Greek and medieval visions of circles of planetary spheres, and yet no modern theory exists to explain the cosmic coincidences that surround the Earth.

This small volume, containing illustrations from rare books as well as by the author, reveals the exquisite orbital patterns of the planets and the mathematical relationships that govern them.

Is it all just a coincidence, or do the patterns perhaps explain the scientists?

If you ever encounter this little book, or any of the others from Wooden Books (Sacred Geometry; Sun, Moon & Earth; Useful Mathematical & Physical Formulae; Stonehenge; Platonic & Archimedian Solids), pick them up and give them a read. Very witty and enlightening.

Then there's no point in any discussion.

Without the Catholic Church, you would know nothing of any scripture.

The barbarians and the Muslims and the Romans and others would have destroyed every remnant of the faith.

It is not at all arrogant to speak the truth.

You would have no Christian Faith if not for the fact that the Catholic Church preserved that faith, for you, over the ages.

You have it exactly backwards...you see Christ is indespensable to the Catholic church, not the other way around.

So in this little corner of the debate, the “little secret” is that Christian evolutionists outnumber anti-religious evolutionists two to one. But that reality wouldn’t suit ICR’s purposes, so they try to spin it away.

But then again, by looking around on this thread, and many others, it appears alot of people think that being nice to kittens and puppies is what constitutes Christianity.

If I spammed FR's news forum every day with at least two editorial screeds from my own religious viewpoint websites, that is the best I could expect to be treated.

In truth, I would expect to be booted for abusing FR...
