Until further notice, individuals cannot legally carry loaded, concealed firearms for personal protection in national parks and wildlife refuges.
The court did grant NRA's motion to intervene in the cases. Under federal law, NRA is entitled to an immediate appeal, and NRA will exercise that right.
"Just as we did not give up the fight to change the old, outdated rule, we will not give up our fight in the courts to defend the rule change," said NRA chief lobbyist Chris W. Cox. "We will pursue every legal avenue to defend the American people's right to self-defense." Read the opinion Here
the right to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed,
...or is it,
...and to exercise like Authority over all Places purchased by the Consent of the Legislature of the State in which the Same shall be, for the Erection of Forts, Magazines, Arsenals, dock-Yards, and other needful Buildings;
Funny, I don't see "socialized land entertainment developments" as one of the permitted uses of land in the states on that latter list, do you? Methinks the Feds don't have jurisdiction here. But then again, they shouldn't have "National Parks" in the first place either.
So “until further notice” any criminal who wants to shoot the hell out of innocents in a national park, can feel pretty darn sure he can go ahead and do that without a good armed citizen being there to STOP him. Great. Nice job Barry. Hey the gun ban in Chicago works great, no violence there at all Barry.....
I don’t need no stinking law to carry my gun.
f!kc these tyrannical bastages...
Time to send more money to the NRA.
JoMa
Congress could fix this tomorrow if they wanted to. It is time for gun owners and the NRA to hold Congress’ feet to the fire and demand that a law allowing Park Carry be passed.
"In addition, Brady has submitted declarations from several of its members indicating that they are now concerned for their personal safety in parks and refuges and cannot fully enjoy their visits to certain national parks or wildlife refuges because they feel less safe."
You can, but you'll go to jail if you're caught with it on your person. You can have it in your car but it must be unloaded and stored in a secure container in the trunk, or the designated storage area if you're in a SUV or truck, and the ammunition must be stored in a separate container.
If you're counting on using it to defend your family from the 2-legged predators who have found that it's nice to take a break now and then from doing those boring drive-bys and head out to a national park for a little fresh air with armed robbery on the side, you'll have to ask Mr. Inner C. Dreadlocks to wait while you unlock your trunk and 2 suitcases and then load your gun. I'm sure he won't mind, after all you're just obeying the gubbermint's rules that were made for your own good.
Glenn Beck reported tonight that COLLEEN KOLLAR-KOTELLY suspended it until an environmental impact study could be performed. Her next act will be to outlaw passing gas until an environmental impact study can be done... a seperate study for everyone passing said gas.
Spent a week at Priest Lake a few years ago.
Beautiful child you have.
GOD bless.
Free men don’t ask permission.
Dead on accurate statement !
Agreed.
Thanks for the ping!
It took the IT Nazis a month to remove it and caution me to not do that again.
It's been up again since 1/5/09.
I wonder how long it will take them this time?
Thanks.
I can't say I'm terriby surprised. HOAs and National Socialists have a lot in common.
