You can, but you'll go to jail if you're caught with it on your person. You can have it in your car but it must be unloaded and stored in a secure container in the trunk, or the designated storage area if you're in a SUV or truck, and the ammunition must be stored in a separate container.
If you're counting on using it to defend your family from the 2-legged predators who have found that it's nice to take a break now and then from doing those boring drive-bys and head out to a national park for a little fresh air with armed robbery on the side, you'll have to ask Mr. Inner C. Dreadlocks to wait while you unlock your trunk and 2 suitcases and then load your gun. I'm sure he won't mind, after all you're just obeying the gubbermint's rules that were made for your own good.
