Uighurs, and Maybe Other Gitmo Jihadists, to be Released into the U.S.?
NRO Corner ^ | March 20, 2009 | Andy McCarthy

Posted on 03/20/2009 8:21:58 AM PDT by Sergeant Tim

Militants who have had terrorist training or are affiliated with terrorist organizations are supposed to be excluded from entering our country — even when we are not in a state of war against them — under U.S. statutory law. As NR's editors observed in October:

In the 2005 REAL ID Act, Congress explicitly provided for the exclusion from the U.S. of any alien who has received terrorist training or has belonged to an organization that promotes terrorism — against anyone. The Uighurs are ineligible on both grounds: Even if one accepts, for argument’s sake, the contention that their dispute is with Beijing, not us, they were trained by a terrorist group for the purpose of conducting operations against China.

I wonder whether the legions of Democrats and law professors who conducted an seven-year jihad against President Bush over his assertion of constitutional authority to ignore statutes that interfered with his commander-in-chief powers will rise up against this imperial president?

Meanwhile, how's this for Change? We've gone from an administration that locks up alien jihadists who've been trained in terror tactics in al Qaeda camps to an administration that will admit them into our country — despite their lack of any lawful immigration status and in violation of U.S. law — so they can live among us . . . just like Mohamed Atta & friends used to.

Separately, the New York Times' William Glaberson interviewed former USS Cole Commander Kirk Lippold and me yesterday and the subject was the potential release of Guantanamo detainees within the United States. Rest assured that along with imparting facts that verify the 17 Uighurs at Gitmo trained as terrorists and are associates of a terrorist organization (the East Turkistan Islamic Movement (ETIM)), I gave him credible sources for that information and both barrels of my opinion that they should not be set free here.

In line with the 'rule of law' that Messrs. Obama and Holders tout so highly, they are required to comply with Section 103 of the 'Real ID Act of 2005'. So, before releasing the Uighurs in America, AG Eric Holder ought to publicly certify to the American people that he has reviewed all the intelligence about them and found no credible intelligence that says they trained in terrorism or are members of a terrorist organization.

The first duty to America of President Obama and AG Holder is our nation's defense, not being the ad hoc defense lawyers for terrorists. This is not an 'innocent until proven guilty' issue; they should not take a such a dangerous chance with the lives of innocent Americans.

There might not be much of a country to take back in 2012, at the rate things are going.

Let me know which port they plan to be stepping off. I’ll be sure to be there to ‘greet’ them.

“affiliated with terrorist organizations are supposed to be excluded from entering our country”

That MUST include anyone who believes the quran.

Just one more nail in BO’s coffin. The administration never misses a chance to showcase its incompetence and criminal disregard for the safety and secruity of the America people. They have backed themselves into a corner with this bizarre assumption that terrorists’ rights and interests deserve a higher priority than those of U.S. citizens. Wonder if they will realize it in time to throw the Uighurs under the bus.

Oh the terrorist's a person in your neighborhood, in your neighborhood, in your neighborhood....they're the people that you meet, when you're walking down the street, they're the people that you meet each day

Send the Uighurs back to China. Beijing will know what to do with them - and bill their families for the ammunition.

Is anyone reporting that the Obama people have “loosened the restrictions” around John Walker Lindh? Looks like they're getting ready to set him free.

The mind boggles, doesn’t it?

Yesterday I was talking with a gal who works for my Rep here in Florida. I mentioned how REALLY hard it is to keep up with the daily assaults on the foundations of our country- it’s endless and complicated. She said she thinks it is purposeful- keep us off balance and confused- distracted by one thing while over here other things are going on...

I’ve seen the reports and am not sure they are getting ready to release him. Of course, I had no idea we’d be this foolish, releasing known violent jihasists like Binyam Mohammed, this fast.

A side note to Lindh is just a couple months ago he was reportedly at the medium-security federal prison in Victorville, CA. Why that was reported (on Jan 15, I believe) was a small explosive device was found in the prison yet they gave no indication of Lindh being involved.

The dims are clearly laying the groundwork to release the Uighars inside the US. The excuses will be that they can’t go back to China and the Europeans won’t take any terrorists if we don’t. As a bonus Zero can get some gratuitous Bush/Gitmo bashing in to fire up his supporters.

Looks like it.

When they released dirty bomber Binyam Mohammed back to England, they started the chatter the week before. So, I expect them to bring them in soon, release them, and make the announcement.

Obama’s Administration is quick to strip the rights of US citizens - confiscate the bonuses of AIG staff, and threatening to publish their names. On the other hand, Obama is bending over backwards to accomodate ILLEGAL ALIENS, and the ISLAMOFASCISTS, by granting them the US Bill of Rights! It makes NO SENSE to me!
