A Roman Catholic priest who monitors law enforcement treatment of minorities with a video camera released footage that appears to contradict the police account of his own arrest.
A police report says the Rev. James Manship was confronted and arrested Feb. 19 because he was holding an "unknown shiny silver object" and struggled with an officer who was trying to take it from him. But a 15-second video released this week by Manship's attorneys shows East Haven police Officer David Cari asking Manship, "Is there a reason you have a camera on me?"

It always is...

So he was “struggling with police”, eh? Good thing he’s a priest and has video as a witness as opposed to just some foreign-born store owners. There’s a chance he will be assumed to be innocent when he goes to trial.
Yes, it is.
It’s when you try to film a cowardly, aggressive and armed “Barney Fife” in the performance of his “duties” that you run afoul of their “law”.
Not The Law, just THEIR “law”. Of course, some of them don’t seem to think there is a difference.
THIS particular Barney Fife might be about to find out differently, though.
Beware of any LEO who doesn’t want a video record of what’s going on. Where I live, the police cruiser cameras only operate when the blue light are on. So be very suspicious of an officer who pulls you over and doesn’t leave the blue lights on. They might plan on behaving in an unprofessional manner. Call 911 and ask for additional officers.
They should outlaw the camera. It sure is making things difficult.
"When cameras are outlawed only outlaws will have cameras!" AESOP
At the least they should register them. They should also require you to get a concealed/carry permit. You should have to take a course from the National Camera Association before your state will grant you a permit.
Interesting. Do you, or any other Freepers, know if some cruisers are equipped with radar that works while the police car is moving? I received a ticket the other day from a LEO who was driving at high speed towards me. I have no doubt that he exaggerated (made up)the speed I was traveling at. I didn’t think radar could work while in motion, but I a certainly could be wrong. Thanks!
“Ever watch COPS ? They proudly show these out of control police actions.”
I was a peace officer for a time. I have watched a couple of episodes. It was almost like a training film on how to violate peoples rights.
Radar that can record a vehicles speed from a moving police car has been around for a long time.
And when the other officers reach the scene who do you think they will be siding with?
Out of control? I recall a lot of episodes in which the perp was out of control, but can't recall one in which the LEO was. Can you cite one?
Thank you for the information. I’m sorry to hear that.
Radar can work while in motion. There are variations on how the units work.
Great idea! That would solve EVERYTHING, wouldn’t it?
;^)
Thank you for the information!
