Gates readies big cuts in weapons (Thanks to Obama gutting our military)
Boston Globe ^ | March 17, 2009 | Bryan Bender

Two defense officials who were not authorized to speak publicly said Gates will announce up to a half-dozen major weapons cancellations later this month. Candidates include a new Navy destroyer, the Air Force's F-22 fighter jet, and Army ground-combat vehicles, the offi cials said.

More cuts are planned for later this year after a review that could lead to reductions in programs such as aircraft carriers and nuclear arms, the officials said.

C’mon, get in the spirit!

Nancy Pelosi’s plane costs money to maintain, operate, and refuel....So does Air Force One, flying the perpetual campaign route—Look at this week: DC to LA for....Jay Leno-that’s vital to national security.

And ACORN neeeds to ramp up for the 2010 elections.

And there’s nothing wrong with urban schools that more billions of dollars won’t fix, right? They’ll be pumping out Rhodes Scholars any day now.......

Now we can feel what liberals went through the last eight years...not fun. We have a long wait until we are happy with a President again. Of course if liberals can survive, we can too.

Why does the military need money?

To pay for diversity training, of course.

Do you even have a clue how many Marines the CH-46 killed in it’s first five years of operations?

Or for that matter how many Ospreys we have lost due to crashes in Iraq since the Osprey became operational (as opposed to still in the development stage)

The early record of the CH46 is that it was a Marine Killer and a death trap that the Osprey has not even come close to matching.

Since those, what was it, four testing accidents with a total of thirty Marines killed almost seven years ago, the osprey has had no accidents at all and a near prefect combat record. Quite an amazing feat for an aircraft that is so revolutionary and ahead of it’s time it threatens to change the whole concept of air mobility.

Defense Secretary Robert Gates's decisions will be guided by what he learns while spending time with troops.

BS. More of that populist "listening tour" mentality. Forgive me, but I don't want some wiggy, pro-Obama E3 on the mess decks changing our national defense posture.

Can't compare this to the past eight years. The pain we went through with Clinton MIGHT be similar to what libs went through with Bush...maybe. Most of the libs reaction to Bush was completely manufactured hate...not real hate. They hated a man that was evil, hateful, warmongering...a strawman, because that is not who Bush is.

In this case, Obama is hell bent on destroying this country has it is to create a leftist utopia. It is not debatable. I am disgusted but mostly in the American electorate's ignorance. I am hoping enough people figure it out to create significant change in the makeup of the House in 2010 to slow the damage. Otherwise, 4-8 years of this will destroy it and be irreversible.

“Bring us to our knees by weakening our military.”

This coupled with ending VA care of wounded vets corroborates the treason.

So basically the US air force stops using its new 5th generation fighter thats already in service, and goes back to the F-16 and F-15 for another 30+ years?
Your kidding, right?

Spoke to a friend in shall we say civilian and military assembly.

Drove him nuts many of the young turks (recent hires) vote for the Bamster.

It is kind of a first in/first out environment based on seniority but more importantly intrinsic product knowledge.

Oh well, very soon it is going to suck to be them.....

AMEN. Many of our friends are already making plans to get out. None of us will stay and live under Communism.

With all due respect, I plan to stay and fight.

If I die, it will be for my love of this great nation.
If I am the only one who defends this republic,so be it.

I refused to be chased off by a two-bit Cook county , community organizer and his Saul Alinsky spouting comrades.

I wonder which Army vehicles he’s looking at?

Probably Future Combat Systems, which is the Army's next generation of ground fighting vehicles and comm systems. It's a pretty ambitious project with a large budget, and would fit right in with 0's plan to gut the military.

This story tells a lot about Gates, also.

This bland, faceless, DC-mentality bureaucrat who suddenly became a cabinet member in the last administration then easily adapted his thinking to the frightening military policies of the new administration.

If he had any guts, he wouldn't have stayed on.....but we can give him a reluctant pass on that if his expanded tenure would have been short. But now he knows what the marxist Obama is all about and what his U.S.-destroying agenda is, he's still there and going right along with it.

He should tender his resignation by midnight tonight.

I consider Robert Gates a chameleon and a craven traitor.

The Osprey has been a huge waste of money. It has taken over 20 years to get it into service and then only by greatly relaxing the maneuverability requirements. I have long argue that by redesigning the fuselage shapes, engines, and avionics of existing aircraft, we could equal the performance of the F-22 fora fraction of the cost. And don’t get me started on the F-35.

That’s what it will take to convince the VERY stupid 33% of voters that you cannot elect a leftist to the presidency (the other 22% are hopeless). I’m heading for NY tomorrow, hopefully I’ll be done traveling there before it goes up in smoke.
