More Functional Non-Coding DNA Found

March 12, 2009 — Another finding undermines the concept of “junk DNA.” A team of scientists in Massachusetts found over a thousand functional RNA transcripts from intergenic sequences. These RNA transcripts, coming not from genes but from regions earlier thought to be non-functional, take part in diverse functions from stem cell pluripotency to HOX gene developmental processes to cell proliferation...

Money quote: 'If some of the other non-coding DNA is found to be functional, the implications would be hard on evolutionary theory: “the markedly low rate of conservation seen in the current catalogues of large non-coding transcripts ([less than] 5% of cases) is unprecedented and would require that each mammalian clade evolves its own distinct repertoire of non-coding transcripts.” That would be too much new genetic information for a Darwinian mechanism to create. For that reason, they are postulating that most of the RNAs represent “transcriptional noise, with a minority of bona fide functional lincRNAs hidden amid this background."...The authors did acknowledge one point of logic: “Strictly speaking, the absence of evolutionary conservation cannot prove the absence of function.'"...

Needless to say, Creation and ID scientists have been predicting function for the so-called “junk DNA” for years.

So scientists are undermining their own evolutionist conspiracy?

There is no distinction between DNA and God. Only the interpretations. Emotion and Logic being the primary discriminators.

Why do Evos assume their religious movement is a conspiracy?

Satan is responsible for diseases - that needs to be in the medical school textbooks.

Man’s sin is responsible for degeneration, disease, and death...it’s already in the Bible.

So far the link between evolutionary conservation of DNA sequences between species, and the functionality of those conserved sequences has held true.

What creationists need to show to break this link is a highly functional sequence that is not conserved between members of closely related lineages.

But creationists are completely dependent upon actual biological scientists to collect this data, because creationists don't actually do any real science, they just write ignorant hokum about actual science, and pay GGG to post this drivel on Free Republic.

You're kidding.....right?

OMG!!!!!! Scientists discovered something they didn't know before and revised their picture of the world!!!!!!

Sure says something about something....mainly....says something about YOU.

Modular DESIGN explains highly conserved functional sequences far better than Darwin’s fanciful creation myth. At the same time, Creation also explains non-conserved functional sequences. No matter which way you slice it, Creation provides the better explanation...hands down.

Why do Evos assume their religious movement is a conspiracy?

From the point of view of a young earth creationist, evolution would have to be a conspiracy, because so many people and scientific disciplines conflict with their beliefs.

It's not an "Evo" position, but one of a rational person.

Not likely.

Creationism does NOTHING to explain the nested hierarchy of similarity and divergence one finds among closely related species that makes functional sequences highly conserved and nonfunctional sequences diverge at the neutral mutation rate.

What is the creationist explanation for why all primates have the same frame-shift mutation in the GULO gene for vitamin C synthesis?

What is the creationist explanation for why, if you find the same ERV sequence in a human and a gorilla it will also be in a chimp; and be more divergent than ones found only in humans and chimps (which will be more divergent than ones found only in humans, which will be more divergent than ones found only is some human populations)?

And no, little Russian dolls do not explain it.

==OMG!!!!!! Scientists discovered something they didn’t know before and revised their picture of the world!!!!!!

Interestingly enough, whenever Evo scientists are forced to revise their fanciful creation myth, they are usually forced to make revisions that are more in-line with creationist predictions. Indeed, God’s creation even forces the Evos to use the language of DESIGN to describe it. Needless to say, it frustrates the likes of Evo-atheists like Richard Dawkins to no end.

==From the point of view of a young earth creationist, evolution would have to be a conspiracy, because so many people and scientific disciplines conflict with their beliefs.

A much simpler explanation is that the Temple of Darwinistic Materialism is a nature-worshipping religious movement that has been around in one form or another for thousands of years.

SOME scientists “seek the truth wherever it leads”

instead of seeking truth as long as it stays inside the box of materialism.

This "language of design" phrase you toss around is just another attempt to prove something from nothing.

"Creationists" don't HAVE "predictions"......"God did it" is not a prediction. It's a claim, nothing more.
