I’m in favor of the gender-neutral “Asshat”.

Last I checked, Humans come in boy type and girl type.
If they’re going to start doing stupid things, where will it stop?
Will we not be able to have nations? races? families?
Why call a Jew a Jew or an Arab an Arab? Someone might get offended.
While we’re at it, let’s get rid of age language to, we’re all the same age with the same experience, no matter if you’ve been here for 3 years or 300 years!
Also, why don’t we blur the lines between idiots and intellectuals... oh wait... we already have, I guess that was the first to go.

Well, seeing as how they don’t have any other problems I can see how they could become mired in such picayune, politically correct matters.

The booklet also admits that "no gender-neutral term has been successfully proposed" to replace 'waiter' and 'waitress', allowing parliamentarians to use these words in a restaurant or café.Dunno about that... we've been using the generic "waitron" in the food business here in the States for a long time. Friggin idjits.

I would think ‘server’ would fit as an alternative to waiter or waitress.

Why don't they ban the Romance Languages altogether? after all, don't most of the words have a gender assigned? Why trouble yourself over whether it's la pussy or le pussy when talking about the neutered male of the species?

The EU should, instead, focus on making all countries have gender-neutral nouns. There is no good reason to have the articles der (masculine), die (feminine), and das (neutral), which all mean “the”, to modify German nouns, for example. Many other non-English languages have the same problem. It makes learning to speak a foreign language a pain in the buttinsky.
The Mr. and Mrs. thing pales in comparison.

"no gender-neutral term has been successfully proposed" to replace 'waiter' and 'waitress'I propose "Waitron" for most of the EU, and in France they can use Pompous Twit...

Ok, I now understand how stupid the EU really is..lol.
From the article - “However, a number of bizarre EU rules remain in place, including a directive stating that every pair of rubber boots must be supplied with a user’s manual in 12 languages.”
A freaking owners manual for rubber boots? Who is stupid enough to not be able to put on rubber boots without a users manual? Only in Europe. And of course I won’t even touch the rules trying to dictate the shape of a banana...too many jokes there.

Glad to see government rigidly controlling the citizens' culture over there in Europe.
You wouldn't want them to freely express themselves.
If you can control language you can control behavior.
You can also minimize the lessons and relevance of history.
