(03-15) 17:22 PDT Anchorage, Alaska (AP) --
The former fiance of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin's daughter said in an interview that they could reunite but would remain apart as friends for now.
Levi Johnston, 19, told ABC's "Good Morning America" in a segment to air Monday that he and 18-year-old Bristol Palin broke up after a fight "a week, two weeks ago" and had tried to "make things work." The two are the parents of an infant son, Tripp Easton Mitchell Johnston, born on Dec. 27.
"But this is what it kind of ended up turning into," Johnson said in an interview from his Alaska home. "But we'll see what happens."
Johnston also said they needed time to grow up before following through on marriage plans.

In my family for at least three generations. Not exactly sure why.
Check out the Spaniards or the Mexicans (or the Italians) if you want to hear some long strings of names. (In fact, look up Rudolf Valentino.)
From your lips to God’s ear!
That said, he is a MSM BEyEOTCH if he does NOT accept his responsibility as the father of Lvei Johnstin and Bristol Palin’s child.
I PERSONALLY have accepted and been responsible for SEVERAL boys AND girls for whom I am NOT the legal parent of.
I am sorry to say that a couple of the boys have disappointed me. Only ONE girl has.
My 13 year old son has 3 names plus a last. My husband and I couldn't agree on a middle name, so we compromised and gave him two.
I give the kid credit for admitting where he’s at. As long as he supports the baby and acts like the dad, it’s better to go this route than to mess up another persons life through an unhappy forced marriage and inevitable divorce. They will all be fine.
Way to go Strongbow!!!
“I am sorry to say that a couple of the boys have disappointed me. Only ONE girl has.”
Seems to me at the end of the day girls turn out well if they have a good dad. Good for you!
I somehow think this will work out all right
I am more skeptical. Somebody needs to start putting the interests of this child above their own.
Sort of like George Herbert Walker Bush?
Sounds like a step toward maturity, already.
He doesn’t necessarily believe he is not mature enough. My gut tells me he is just repeating what she told him because he knows that’s what she wants to read in the paper or hear on GMA. My gut tells me he probably had girls all over the country throwing themselves at him through his MySpace page or something and she got P.O.ed cause he left the door open to one or two of them. That is the definition of him not being mature enough.
“Johnston also said they needed time to grow up before following through on marriage plans.”
A wise-man named Eastwood once said,
“A man’s gotta know his limitations.”
I think they will be just fine.

It takes two to tango. Not exactly bright on Bristol’s part, either. I have a feeling these two will grow up in a hurry.
it’s more like 21 or up to 25 years depending on the state.
NY has the worst laws I know of so far, child support until 25 if they are attending school, many states have increased child support emancipation laws to include college leaving the non-custodial to pay until the age of 21.
I’m sure the family problems he’s had did not help the situation. His mothers arrest for distribution and possession of oxycodone and his sister blabbing her mouth to the gossip rag Star.
How long have you been married?
Not mature enough? Dude’s a father, he better get on the ball fast or he’s DOOMED.
” I personally think the boy saying he is not mature enough is a cop out “
exactly.
How does a person mature?
A person matures by accepting responsibility.
A person matures by staying put and learning as he goes - even when it’s tough.
The only thing he is doing is delaying his maturity.
Running away just keeps his status perpetually at “immature”
If he is mature enough to be held financially responsible then he is mature enough to raise his own child.
He should get custody.
The whole “one parent gets to raise the children and the other parent has to pay the bills” system is incredibly harmful.
