Just 3 weeks after the brutal murder of 13 year-old Alycia Nipp across the Columbia River from Portland, we are told of a known, dangreous predator that "escaped" from a "treatment center."

When will we wake up that these predators cannot be "treated" and must be put away forever?

They should be put to death. Justly convicted child molesters should be put to death.

Oh you don’t need to execute people. You just put them in prison and then everyone is just as safe as if you had killed them. /s

Put ‘em in general population. Let the other prisoners do it.

Good point. They say lock them up for life, with no parole, but while rare, prisoners can escape.

What angers me most is how Politicians keep blocking efforts to strengthen laws against these predators.

Isn’t One Murdered Child Enough?

Prayers that LE find him and lock him away (securely this time) before he can harm anyone.

The spokesperson from the treatment center said “It would be really helpful if he kills a couple of kids—we’d then know where he’s been—and he might leave helpful evidence that we could track him down with. In the meantime, we will need $500,000 in funding for extra remedial staff training to ensure this probably won’t happen again....”

And California has to bear the burden of paying to incarcerate those on death row. We now have 667 people on death row, and no executions in sight as far as the eye can see.

Locking them up for life really means that the families of whoever he harmed must share in paying for their upkeep the rest of their lives.

That is just too cruel, in my estimation.

The Death Penalty for these deemed most dangerous must be imposed and swiftly, not 20 to 25 years down the road.

These “treatment” centers for such people are simply a big multi-million dollar scam. If anything, the stats prove that these “treatments” make the offenders even more sick, not less. Time to pull the plug on the waste.

Honestly, I think they CAN be treated, but we need to muster the political will to give them the kind of treatment they need.

Surgical castration and frontal lobotomy will turn these guys into docile citizens with basically no urges at all, beyond the urge to eat when hungry and sleep when tired. They could hold down jobs mopping floors or bagging fries or digging ditches or sorting recyclables. They are very, very sick, and need drastic treatment, in order to lead any semblance of a free and productive life. But our society refuses to give them the treatment they need, and instead spends hundreds of thousands of dollars on each one for imprisonment and ineffective counseling-type treatment, and then lets them run loose again to destroy the lives of healthy people. If they do it over and over again, eventually they get locked up permanently, at massive expense to the taxpayers (while their victims and surviving family members get nothing), and sometimes escape.

When someone has uncontrollable epilepsy that prevents them from leading a free and productive life, we readily support brain surgery for them — sometimes involving removing as much as an entire half of their brain — even though it will leave them with some mental disabilities. Why don’t we support this for people with uncontrollable urges to rape and kill?
