Being from the old school, we have what is called a “shot gun wedding” and the baby has a daddy and a name. They can split when ever after that.

I think today's ACLU environment has made it so that a woman can put the man's name on the certificate regardless of marital status. Levi probably signed the birth certificate himself.

Judging by the quotes from the statement, it sounds like Levi's drug-addled mother and his sister were seeking to publicize the baby for tabloid payouts, wanting unsupervised custody to carry out their schemes. I don't blame the Palins from protecting the child until the custody issue can be legally settled.
