The pair, parents to 2-month-old son Tripp, broke up 'a few weeks ago'
Bristol Palin and her fiancé Levi Johnston have broken up, two sources tell PEOPLE.
The split happened "a few weeks ago," according to a source close to the couple, but it's unclear what precipitated it. "It was a mutual thing," adds the source.
"It kind of just happened," says the source, referring to the split. "I thought they would stick it out. But I think they can work together to raise Tripp."
Despite the breakup, Levi still sees the couple's son. Levi's dad, Keith Johnston, told PEOPLE recently that his son is a devoted and "proud father."
Bristol, meanwhile, is attending Wasilla High, taking a class to supplement course work she is completing at home. She also is considering enrolling in college next fall and studying nursing.

Family is everything and it’s sad some don’t view it that way today.
Dr. Laura
The talk show gal who adopted the baby is Laura Ingraham, I believe.
Would you have condemned Reagan and refused to vote for him if you knew Nancy was three months pregnant on their wedding day?
You see, no matter if these sanctimonious moral-mountebanks would answer 'yes' or 'no' they would be revealed as hypocrites.
(in advance) Happy St. Patrick's Day!
Raise a pint to the Palins, especially our future President.
Post 1081 - Wonderfully done!
Your question isn’t as tricky as you seem to think:
we can indeed condemn fornication whenever it is brought to our attention without condemning the perpetrators in toto, nor without due praise for their later commitment to marriage.
So please conserve your indignation and petty name-calling for some other drama.
And dispositive of what?
That Pope Benedict prays for everyone, regardless of how they got to their current situation?
This surprises whom, exactly?
The Pope even prays for wankers, so consider yourself fortunate.
And detractors as well.
So you too.
Not surprising since I’ve been the only one standing up to your abuse for the last 500 posts or so. It’s not mysterious to deduce at whom your cowardly sneers are directed.
And please demonstrate your location of hypocrisy.
Or admit you’ll say anything in an attempt to silence someone with whom you disagree—including putting absurd notions in their mouths.
But that might require some temperance on your part...
The problem with Bristol Palin isn’t so much what she did as what she symbolizes and creates. Our nation is dying due to many problems and one of those primary problems is widespread illegitimacy. Few are willing to directly address this issue and it particularly hurts when this involves a conservative candidate, whether directly or indirectly. Conservatives are regarded as the defender of family values and rightfully so. When illegitimacy involves to a conservative candidate two negative consequences arise: 1. The inability to effectively address the problem of illegitimacy and 2. the belief by the general public that conservatives are hypocrites and family values are meaningless. These consequences only increase the immorality of our nation, causing even further strides towards Gomorrah.
All of us who love this nation and it's great Judeo-Christian heritage need to come together and support Pro-Life and Pro-Liberty candidates in order to defeat the anti-God socialist agenda of Obama and the Democrats in congress. If we continue to fight among ourselves and throw good conservatives like Sarah Palin and Bobby Jindal under the bus because they're not perfect enough for some "conpuratives" we can kiss the America we love and cherish "good by" in 2010 and 2012.
When was Bristol Palin a candidate?
Bristol Palin is an errant young woman who is by all accounts exercising her free will given by God.
Her Mother Sarah, as far as I can see is a parent who has tried to bring her children up to do the right thing.
Sarah has not condoned her daughter’s behavior and as far as I can see she encouraged her daughter to give birth to the child. Had Bristol aborted the child with her parents’ in agreement, then I would agree that this is hypocrisy. I see no hypocrisy here, all I see is a bunch of church-ladies on this forum, wagging their fingers and passing judgment and punishment on Bristol, something which if they believed what they preached, should be left to God.
You are familiar with the common law principle “Silence gives consent?”
It won’t be enough for Sarah not to condone it; she’s going to need to show that she rejects the behaviour outright, or any talk of personal responsibility by her will be laughed out of the public square.
I don’t think she has failed at this entirely, nor do I believe she has satisfactorily put the issue to bed. She’s going to hear more about this until she puts together another speech in which she directly addresses the social consequences of illegitimacy and what she thinks society should do about it.
Not condemning her, just noting a handicap her daughter’s irresponsibility has imposed upon her—one which she very well may be able to hit a home run on if she puts her mind to it.
Do you believe sexual immorality and illegitimacy have social consequences?
If so, do you believe all socially destructive behaviour must be forgiven without just restitution by the offender—or just sexual immorality?
And just what do you believe is "just restitution" for Bristol Palin's "crime" against humanity? BTW, exactly who made you judge and jury to demand such restitution?
I think public acknowledgement of her gross error in dismissing abstinence (which we used to call “chastity”) as unrealistic would be an excellent start, but I posted a longer list of things she ought to do earlier in this post.
You could look it up if you’re stumped for answers to my questions, which I note you ducked entirely.
I’m not judging the person, I’m judging the actions, which I thought we all agreed were wrong.
Was I mistaken about that?
