Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) has come up with a vivid new way to express his contention that the nation is spending way too much money it doesnt have.
McConnell includes the tweaks in his opening remarks on the Senate floor on the 51st day that President Obama has been in office.
In just 50 days, Congress has voted to spend about $1.2 trillion between the Stimulus and the Omnibus, McConnell says. To put that in perspective, thats about $24 billion a day, or about $1 billion an hourmost of it borrowed. Theres simply no question: government spending has spun out of control.
The math: 50 days times 24 hours equals 1,200 hours. 1,200 times 1 billion equals 1.2 trillion (a thousand billions is a trillion).
Even as he proposes a huge increase in the reach of government, the president continued to try to show his concern about spending by making an announcement Wednesday about earmark reform.
Too late you idiot.
Hey Mitch! You’re closing the barn door after the horses got out.
This idiot could not even keep the GOP Senators in line on the omnibus bill. The bill would have been sent back to the House and the cost lowered. And this after the Dems shot down ALL of the GOP amendments. Nice bi-partisanship there.
That’s the second major failure of his leadership this term. Porkulus was another with the three RINOS-Specter, Collins and Snowe voting with the Dems to enable the Dems to be the majority party for the next four decades.
When the Dems were in the Senate minority, they ran the agenda.
Lott, Frist, and McConnell—an answer to Dems’ prayers.
The man can’t even raise his voice, in spite of an outrage a day from Obama and Biden.
A Republican is criticizing Congress for being wasteful. Let’s throw him a freaking bone here!
Good for you Mitch!

Sorry Mitch, but you get no pat on the back from me.You and the rest of the spineless repunblicans currently in office have done little ornothing to save this nation from being taken over by the socilaists. You deserve to be out on the street just as much as Obama and his thugs....
Ditch Mitch!!
Did you ever try herding cats? That would be a breeze compared to trying to lead the bunch of knuckleheads we have in Congress now.
Conservatives had better get off their butts and bring about some "change you can believe in" --- throw most of the stupid creeps out come next election!!!!! And get some honest-to- God Americans in there.
