Google Earth Uncovers British Nuclear Sub Base, Missile Facility, how nice of google.

BRITAIN’S nuclear defence HQ could be under threat from terrorists using Google Earth. Close-up aerial views of the top-secret Naval base are on the computer program — available for free over the internet.

It even reveals the longitude and latitude of the facility in Faslane, Scotland — home to the UK’s Trident-armed nuclear submarine force.

And pictures clearly show two vast Vanguard Class submarines — each capable of carrying 16 nuclear missiles.

Military experts warn that would make it easy for terrorists to launch accurate mortar or rocket attacks.

Blame Google? Whatever, welcome to a open source world.

The Military will have to adopt or simply use the heavy hand and prevent Google.

Well I wouldn’t have known it unless The Sun said it.

So what? You can see those subs from a number of places in person. Big deal.

Not a secret to any of NATOs opponents I assure you.

Those aren't Vanguard Class Submarines.

They're environmentally-friendly fuel cell powered fun boats Prince Charles is going to sail to Rio to give a keynote speech on Global Warming...

Open source world?

Google doesn't have any problems censoring searches for those using google in China.

I seriously doubt this location is supposed to be “secret.”

Once again. Google doesn’t have a satellite up there taking pictures. They just put them together in one handy place. Anyone can get these pictures without google if they want to pay for them.

That is also not a real time picture but could be several months or years old.

The Military will have to adopt or simply use the heavy hand and prevent Google.

At some point, the enemy will have their own satellites. Consider this a dry run learning experience, and adapt to the technology.

Did the Brits in the area not know that there was a "secret" sub base there? Unless they too special care to get every map publisher, GPS seller and satellite photo organization in the world to hide it, it was already known and pretty easy to give a latitude and longitude. Google Earth just makes looking at the satellite images a little easier than before, but they were already out there.

China?

All corporations that do business abide by the Communist Constitution which allows China dictate their business.

google isn't the only corp that does that.

This isn't China.
