Barack Obama 'too tired' to give proper welcome to Gordon Brown

Barack Obama's offhand approach to Gordon Brown's Washington visit last week came about because the president was facing exhaustion over America's economic crisis and is unable to focus on foreign affairs, the Sunday Telegraph has been told

Sources close to the White House say Mr Obama and his staff have been "overwhelmed" by the economic meltdown and have voiced concerns that the new president is not getting enough rest.

British officials, meanwhile, admit that the White House and US State Department staff were utterly bemused by complaints that the Prime Minister should have been granted full-blown press conference and a formal dinner, as has been customary. They concede that Obama aides seemed unfamiliar with the expectations that surround a major visit by a British prime minister.

But Washington figures with access to Mr Obama's inner circle explained the slight by saying that those high up in the administration have had little time to deal with international matters, let alone the diplomatic niceties of the special relationship.

Allies of Mr Obama say his weary appearance in the Oval Office with Mr Brown illustrates the strain he is now under, and the president's surprise at the sheer volume of business that crosses his desk.

A well-connected Washington figure, who is close to members of Mr Obama's inner circle, expressed concern that Mr Obama had failed so far to "even fake an interest in foreign policy".

Barack Obama 'too tired' to give proper welcome to Gordon Brown

The technical term to describe Barry's condition is "pussy".

You're just the same as the other 190 countries in the world.

Considering that the UN alone recognizes 192 countries within the UN itself, that number come from?

It’s only a matter of time before they blame Bush.

They don’t do diplomacy back in the hood. Obama and his team don’t even get it that they don’t even get it.

I’ll be looking forward to the Brits dissing him more and more.

Me too. We don't do much right over here, but fortunately our press a) actually does journalism, and b) isn't working for Obama. It's a small consolation to me, but I'll take it :0)

Didn't this POS say that McCain couldn't multi-task?

Jesus. So, does this mean if terrorists attack us, he won't be able to handle it?

God help us all.

Amazing quote:

The American source said: "Obama is overwhelmed. There is a zero sum tension between his ability to attend to the economic issues and his ability to be a proactive sculptor of the national security agenda".

I hope FReepers will lay off Obama now. Don't you heartless gloaters realize that Obama is busy proactively sculpting the national security agenda? Aren't you ashamed of yourselves?

Bull shit! If he’s too tired it’s only because he’s spending too much time partying and sipping wine - not because he gives a damn about the economy.

I think he is back on drugs.

I was kind of wondering that myself. He has all those parties going with lots of “celebrities” in and out plus running away from the White House so often. Why would he leave a place where he is waited on hand and foot?

If that is true, thank God we have Joe Biden as a back up. Sheesh.

He is tired and overwhelmed because he spends too much time throwing parties at the white house and staying up till all hours instead of doing his job. (guess who is paying for all those parties)

Remember the outrage at Pres. Bush for the 7 minutes he spent gathering his thoughts when he was informed about the attacks on the WTC. 7 minutes!!!

I honestly believe that the reason he was so adamant about keeping his Blackberry was the need to keep in contact with his drug dealer.

...our press a) actually does journalism, and b) isn’t working for Obama....

Still, this is a puff piece to make up an excuse for Obama dissing the Brits...”The poor baby was too tired”...BULLFEATHERS!

The truth is Obama would rather kiss Amedinerjacket’s butt than be seen to be close to an old “European” ally.

That's actually truer than you'll know. He's never had to sign anything. Signing something required a decision. He's literally learning on the job. The thing you fear is he says this is all too complicated and just starts a decree thing going. Idiots that voted for this actor. Of course we had just as incompetent waiting in the wings on the right, but at least he managed to fly planes in his life. That would have required some discipline.
