She has established herself as the First Lady of fashion and has graced the cover of Vogue.
But long before arriving at the White House Michelle Obama was already putting on the style.
In a shimmering low-cut silk dress slashed to the thigh, the then 18-year-old Michelle Robinson posed with her first boyfriend at the High School Prom.
High school sweethearts: First Lady Michelle Obama with David
Upchurch before the 1984 Whitney M Young High School prom in
Chicago, Illinois
More than a quarter of a century since that night, David Upchurch still has fond memories of escorting Michelle to the dance at the Whitney M Young High School in Chicago, which they both attended....
Her revealing dress choice...was perhapsan indication that she would always stand out.
Over 25 years since that night Upchurch still has fond memories of escorting Michelle to the dance....
Darling of the dance floor: Barack Obama takes Michelle, now his
wife of 17 years, for a spin at one of the 10 balls they
visited on inauguration night
He's still got the moustache:
David Upchurch outside his
home in Colorado Springs.
'Barack Obama's a lucky man,' he said
David said:...junior year, we began dating and continued to date for a year-and-a-half.'
He says he can't even remember if he received a goodnight kiss after the prom.
The romance ended when Michelle went off to Princeton to study sociology.

Her chair looks just like the one in the famous picture of Huey Newton.
Well... Since you asked:
Our prom outfits were kinda over the top...
Wow Hildy....nice slam on his girlfriend’s dress. Talk the talk..but can’t walk the walk eh?
LooooooooooLLLLLLL ha ha ha ha
He looks just like Hootie in the current picture.
I don't judge it that way. I have another scale based on the leg-slit in the dress. It tells me that every cent invested in Boone's Farm Starberry wine or Colt 45 will yield an ROI well in excess of the initial investment. *snicker*
I can't believe those days were so long ago. : (
“HOLY BELLYBUTTON”...Batman
the hussy has a split, in the side of that rag, up to her behind!
Wow...you people have no sense of irony...THAT WAS THE POINT...get it? Nobody on this thread has ANY ROOM TO TALK.
Well, looks like Ms Ø started showing the T&A early... but boy, has she every enlarged the "A!"
This goes right along with groveling in the pigsty of self-created irrelevancy to the real problems facing contemporary America. It is SO typical.
I don't think anyone establishes THEMSELVES as anything. The Obama's have a press that wants so much to love them...so much to make them appear to be the epitome of America ... SO MUCH TO SELL PAPERS AND MAGAZINES..and that's what it's really about.
those big wicker fan chairs were very popular in the 70’s. I remember wanting to get one myself.
I feel sorry for anyone named Michelle these days.
Her name will be the Cruella DeVille of the century.
Yes, but some things are too sensitive and gossipy to speculate about publicly, wish I hadn't said anything about that.
I didnt know that Lamont went to the prom with Aunt Ester
