(CNSNews.com) When Vice President Joe Biden speaks to the annual meeting of AFL-CIO officials at the plush Fontainebleau Hotel in Miami Beach Thursday morning, television cameras will not be allowed to cover his speech on orders from the White House, Fox News reported.
The Fontainebleau, which recently had a billion-dollar makeover, describes itself as a spectacular blend of Miamis glamorous golden era and stylish modern luxury." It has 1,504 rooms and suites, 22 oceanfront acres, 11 restaurants and nightclubs including three signature name chef restaurants, a 40,000-square-foot spa, and a "sophisticated poolscape" with private cabanas.
The AFL-CIO Executive Committee told Fox News it is holding its meeting at the Fontainebleau because the hotel agreed to employ union workers as part of its renovation project.
A number of corporations are under fire for either holding or attempting to hold business meetings at resort hotels in these tough economic times.
After speaking to union members Thursday morning, Biden will tour Miamis Intermodal Center, a transportation project funded by the Democrats economic stimulus bill.
Labor Secretary Hilda Solis also went to Miami this week. As a member of Congress, she supported the Employee Free Choice Act, a bill that would allow a simple majority of workers to form a union simply by checking a card. The AFL-CIO says Solis has promised to work for passage of the bill.
Under card check, as soon as 51 percent of workers openly sign a card asking for union representation, the government would have to certify the union.
Critics call it the Employee Forced Choice Bill. They say by effectively removing secret-ballot union elections, the bill would make workers susceptible to harassment and intimidation by union organizers, who are eager to boost union membership in this country.
Ping. Biden at AFL-CIO conference at the Fontainbleu.
I wonder if they’re having crabs for lunch?
Get this “EYE” into see the event!!

Prelude to “BURN THE BOOKS” administration, the transparent empire.
Where is Michael Moore and his “Roger and me” style of film making?
Could it be that they are afraid of a Biden, ahem, misspeak? Is Joe getting his meds tweaked and their is a caution of him going off script? Because it can’t be that “they” don’t want the average American to listen to what the Vice President of the United States has to say to big Labor?
A micro digital voice recorder would do nicely to discreetly capture the audio, if one was so inclined. I have to wonder, though, what are they so afraid of?
Shouldn’t there be a lawsuit? Freedom of information e.t.c? ...like the Democrats always did during the Bush years.
Ok, better yet. The republicans need to call a “private meeting” with the oil companies for the same time and then deny the press any access. Then turn the tables on this type of BS.
what are they so afraid of?.......Freedom, liberty, truth, individualism... just to start.............
Don’t blame me, I voted for Giant Douche!
It is private property.
Although almost all attending are government employees attending I think.
True, but we already know that the Administration and the AFL-CIO are socialist peas-in-a-pod. I have to wonder what specifically Biden is planning to say that they don’t want the media, and by extension, the public to hear.
Story updated to say that the White House is denying they barred media coverage.
“Card-check is in the bag!”.........................
Boy, am I glad we didn’t elect an idiot for Vice President.
That’s “Chilllllll Winnnnnd”...
But did they or did they not bar VIDEO coverage? Sounds like a waffle denial. And I don't mind letting Obama eat his waffles, but I for one am getting a little sick of having to eat his waffles myself.
I wonder how many private jets were used to get people to this thing.
I also wonder how many of these people make over the $500K max for corps taking our/gov money.
Probably a majority white crowd too.
So many opportunities for double standards to be pointed out.
