Defame: to damage the reputation, character, or good name of by slander or libel.
The United Nations, a number of American and European politicians, public and private educators, and elements inside the American and Western mainstream press would likely best serve the civilized world by familiarizing themselves with this definition and stop applying the term to where it does not fit.
While jihadists wage their “holy war” around the world, innocent lives, non-Muslim and Muslim, continue to be lost or damaged. Sometimes it’s tough to spot these “brave mujahadeen” in a crowd, other times it isn't. They’re the ones who tend to carry severed human limbs up and down the streets like trophies and duck down behind women and children once the gunfights break out.
Is the R.O.P. being unfairly evaluated? Is it “defamatory,” “discriminatory” or “abusive” to be critical of its 1400-year-old doctrines of violence and intimidation, or its long record of treating women and those who hold different beliefs with disdain? Maybe it is in the eyes of the boors with their stuck-in-reverse mentality who engage in this inhumanity, and their mouthpieces who use “religion” as a political shield while they continually demand special treatment and hurl unfounded accusations of “injustice.”
In the present day, when good will, good health, prosperity and equality for all should be at the forefront of our aims, many prominent people who hold to this belief system, and all too many of its adherents, have demonstrated with their words and behavior -- in our societies and their own -- that their collective temperament is a drag on mankind’s progression.
