Jill Stanek: She won't be in Kansas anymore (Brownback's endorsement of Sebelius)
WorldNetDaily ^ | 3/4/09 | Jill Stanek

It occurred to me the White House might be forced to nominate radically pro-abort Kansas Gov. Kathleen Sebelius as Department of Health and Human Services secretary after news leaked last week it was pausing due to her loathsome reputation among pro-lifers. Fear of pro-abortion recrimination, pride, whatever.

But it never occurred to me a pro-lifer legislator would applaud the pick, never mind two.

But that's what happened when Sens. Sam Brownback and Pat Roberts issued a glowing joint statement congratulating their home girl:

It's an honor for the State of Kansas to have an elected official appointed to the president's cabinet. We are hopeful Governor Sebelius will be a voice for Kansas and rural America. ... We look forward to working with her on issues important to the state. ... Obviously we will have different viewpoints than the Administration on many issues. ...

And they proceeded not to name abortion as one.

The list of Sebelius' crimes against preborn humanity is too long for this column, but they follow three tracks, repeatedly vetoing pro-life legislation, fighting enforcement of existing pro-life legislation and developing long-term associations with abortionists and the abortion industry, the reasons for tracks one and two.

But here is where Brownback in particular made a common pro-life politician's mistake, which too many pro-lifers accept: Casting dreams for what he could do for us tomorrow, Brownback didn't do the right thing today.

I don't care what pro-life politicians promise they will do for me tomorrow. Tomorrow never comes. I only care what they do for me today. In fact, they're only where they are today because they cast dreams in a previous campaign to do something for me today.

No matter what the reason was, Brownback SHOULD NOT have endorsed an abortionist.

The silver lining is the taxpayers of Kansas finally get a break with her departure ...

But but but but but — Sibelius is pro life at the personal level - (St. Cuomo doctrine)

That’s how these blowhards fake their support for infanticide.

Brownback is wobbly on a number of issues, but I thought he was staunch on at least one issue, pro-life.

This is extremely disappointing. Sebelius is absolutely NOTORIOUS as an extreme abortionist, a pal of Killer Tiller. And this is a sensitive position. She will turn the Department of Health into Planned Parenthood. Forget cancer, forget epidemic preparations, forget medical research. It will be all abortion and all fetal stem-cell research all the time.

This is really unforgiveable.

Sam Brownback is a fraud. All that talk about life, and CONSERVATIVE PRINCIPLES? Sticking by your guns? All lies. I almost voted for you for President you jerk!

I mean lets be clear, Brownback isn't just supporting a woman's choice, pro-choice candidate.

He is praising AN ABORTION EXTREMIST. Sam Brownback is what's wrong with the GOP. They're just like us. Believe what we believe. Until it's time to vote.

I can’t tell you how disappointed I am in these two before thought by me to be very fine men. Now perhaps you can see what being Republican is like here in Kansas. Not very conservative. Sebelius was elected because the R candidate was deemed too “conservative”

Exactly, Sebelius is not just another leftist who is “pro-choice” but seldom addresses the issue, Sebelius actively pursues a pro-abortion agenda.

Arizona follows the same pathetic script. Napolitano became governor in a "conservative" state the very same way. Many libertarians, moderates, and socially liberal Republicans thought the social conservative (Matt Salmon then Len Munsil) running against Napolitano was "too conservative."

It's baffling.

The taxpayers of Kansas voted for her and put her there in the first place!

“The taxpayers of Kansas voted for her and put her there in the first place!”

More like the deadweight trough lickers near Kansas City elected her ... not the same as taxpayers.

I frankly don’t care.

Obama was going to pick an abortionist anyway....anybody who thought he would pick a pro-lifer is stupid, and anyone who thinks a pro-life outcry would keep Sebelius from being confirmed is too dumb to breathe.

She’s it. I am glad to get her out of Kansas even though I am not living there anymore.

Brownback could do some good as governor.
