Russian scholar says US will collapse next year (Martial Law, Six-Way Split, etc.)
The Rock Hill Herald / The Associated Press ^ | March 4, 2009 | Mike Eckel

MOSCOW -- If you're inclined to believe Igor Panarin, and the Kremlin wouldn't mind if you did, then President Barack Obama will order martial law this year, the U.S. will split into six rump-states before 2011, and Russia and China will become the backbones of a new world order.

Panarin might be easy to ignore but for the fact that he is a dean at the Foreign Ministry's school for future diplomats and a regular on Russia's state-guided TV channels. And his predictions fit into the anti-American story line of the Kremlin leadership.

"There is a high probability that the collapse of the United States will occur by 2010," Panarin told dozens of students, professors and diplomats Tuesday at the Diplomatic Academy - a lecture the ministry pointedly invited The Associated Press and other foreign media to attend.

The prediction from Panarin, a former spokesman for Russia's Federal Space Agency and reportedly an ex-KGB analyst, meshes with the negative view of the U.S. that has been flowing from the Kremlin in recent years, in particular from Vladimir Putin.

Putin, the former president who is now prime minister, has likened the United States to Nazi Germany's Third Reich and blames Washington for the global financial crisis that has pounded the Russian economy.

Panarin didn't give many specifics on what underlies his analysis, mostly citing newspapers, magazines and other open sources.

He also noted he had been predicting the demise of the world's wealthiest country for more than a decade now.

But he said the recent economic turmoil in the U.S. and other "social and cultural phenomena" led him to nail down a specific timeframe for "The End" - when the United States will break up into six autonomous regions and Alaska will revert to Russian control.

—Yes, I imagine it’s a tough choice for a lot of science oriented students — Gee, do I go to MIT or University of Texas? Tough one.—

All that is different is the brand name. The end product is the same.

—Actually no —it’s just home to relatively cheap American labor. The corporate headquarters are elsewhere.—

Time to move to Texas?

Well, being that you two fellows are vets, we will let you across the Red River by special dispensation. However, we (Texans)will establish some very stringent criteria for other applicants. We already have way too many snow birds from the upper midwest and north east who are attempting to convert our fair state into an image from hence they came.

Actually, I think there has been a transition underway for about twenty years or so going on. I foresee one of the new ideological regions or states to be what's referred to as the Red L. There are of course pockets of liberalism within the L but I think we can “gently” couch these people to relocate to either the west or east coasts with their like minded brethren. Btw, the other major ideological region or state will be I think the states of the south and southeast. I don't see six regions. Six would not be able to achieve critical mass, economically, politically or militarily... Perhaps three at the most.

A year ago I would have said no way. But given the breakneck speed in which Bama the face of this deliberate downward spiral of the US economy I am not ruling out anything.

Bama and his host of advisers do have contingency plans and this nation is already divided into regions. And didn't the former Treasury Secretary threaten Congress with martial law if they did not pass the bank take over Act last fall. Remember when Bama, Inc., got lord McCain to suspend his political campaign?

Wow, thank you for making this fellow American welcome. I live with my family in New York and my Late Father-who served proudly in the United States Army, is buried in Long Island. I do not think we can uproot now, due to economic considerations. Rummyfan-san, is it so idealic where you live? Why is it you and fellow Freepers think everyone who lives in the Northeast corridor of this country is a kool-aid drinking, lapdog? I am just as patriotic as any other Freeper on this forum and if I do move to your part of the country or the South, as I so often hear: THIS YANKEE COMES IN PEACE AND I AM NOT A LIBERAL, KOOL-AID-DRINKING-LAPDOG, YOU WILL OVERTURN YOUR WAY OF LIFE!!!!!! Granted, I do not come from a world of hunting and guns but I respect them both./Just Asking - seoul62.......

Yes, I do recall a similar post not so long ago. I’m not sure this guy’s fellow political scientists in Russia take him seriously.

There are states, AZ is the first I can think of, that have cited the declaration of martial law and suspension of the Constitution as automatic grounds for secession.”

Not to put you on the spot, but...is that in the AZ state code somewhere? Any chance you could provide a link?

I think a series of these should go through all state legislatures asap.

“Alaska will revert to Russian control.”

Maybe they will accept California instead.

Reading the article, his logic is typical Politburo propaganda (As if school massacres by terrorist, mafia control of business, human sex slave businesses, etc. do not demonstrate moral decay).

For the sake of discussion I’ll address how I believe something like this could happen.

While we are a Republic, we have become more akin to a Democracy via our tax code and entitlements.

Think of Rome’s history. They started as a Republic. Then through the citizens understanding that elections could bring them power, they became a Democracy. Then, when businesses failed due to no longer being able to afford the requirements placed upon them by the government, the people started taking action to provide for themselves. Anarchy followed. Once government stepped in to protect the citizens from each other, Rome became an Oligarchy.

The next step for us is for Anarchy to take place. For this to occur, our society must completely crumble under the weight of government requirements. This is what we are witnessing today.

It could occur like this:

1. Obama installs government control of the financial, health care and energy industries.
2. Wallstreet and main street shareholders are left out in the cold.
3. Takeover creates chaos.
4. Chaos creates revolt.
5. Revolt brings martial law.
6. Country is re-established into sections for better central control. (The “6 rump-states” have to do with the electoral map...Red-v-Blue.)
7. We then have the Obama (think Julius Caesar) installed as our leader for perpetuity.

So, while the guys reasoning for our collapse may be flawed, the steps are in place. In fact, they have been since the founding of our Nation. The difference is that Obama may be the first (or second…FDR) to actually be driving us there.

How do we fight this? Why not fight them where they live…the courts! Is the “stimulus” package constitutional? Can they mandate we give up our privacy through Electronic Health Records? Can they mandate that State legislatures can override the Governors when requesting portions of the package?

There must be a way.

Thoughts?

“5. Revolt brings martial law.”

Don’t know about that one. With 250 million privately owned weapons in this country, that would be a tough task.

California and a good part of New York would be worth fighting for due to crop land. Just fence off the major cities and the rest of us will be fine.

The phrase “Alaska will revert to Russian control” is the Russian’s wet dream.

Given that China is a very present and serious threat to Russia’s vast eastern lands, that Russian “theoretician” needs a bit of a reality check.
