President Barack Obama unveiled a new emblem Tuesday that will be used on projects funded by the economic stimulus package.
The emblem covers most of the basics of the $787 billion package gears representing infrastructure, a red cross representing health care, a plant representing green technology as well as flag-like stars and Recovery.gov, the Web site that will track the progress of stimulus projects.
A White House press release said the emblem is a symbol of President Obamas commitment to the American people to invest their tax dollars wisely to put Americans back to work.

Lest see, A nation with only 8 states remaining to symbolize the divided union. There is a broken machine (note gears don't touch) to symbolize our nations shattered industrial base. A plant with 2 out of three leaves cut off, to symbolize the drop in crop yields due to the ban on “Evil” industrial agriculture. All surrounded by a big empty O. Yep works as a symbol for me.

The NRA eagle is the first thing I thought of, as well. Me too. In the 1930s an extensive campaign followed to intimidate, and even to arrest and try, those who failed to follow NRA "guidelines." Interested people may want to Google the Schechter brothers or Jack Magid for details of FDR's tender affections for those who weren't getting with the program with sufficient alacrity.
