puck bunnies galore!!!!

This is nothing new. The Pittsburgh Penguins have a huge female fan base with giant numbers of female teenagers goo-goo eyed over Sid Crosby. I’m sure other teams are marketing in the same way. Hockey is a natural for women.
Hockey ping. Like this is news—most ardent fans I’ve seen are women. It gets scary sometimes.
Must be the lip stick.
Why is hockey a “natural”?
There is a huge contingent of women loves that love sports, the rougher, more primal, more combative, the better.
I think the following increases in rough economic times.
I used to do MMA (mixed martial arts) along with a strength competitor. You’d be amazed at the women were avid followers.
Hockey falls in this vein, but is more socially acceptable.
Hockey popularity will be on the upswing. Besides the general appeal of the game (fast-paced, still relies on skill vs. size), It’s due to culture.
- no steriod scandals (yet?)
- no thugs or murderers aka) Ray Lewis, OJ Simpson, etc. etc.
- no public sagas of baby-mommas and sewing wild oats (Travis Henry alert)
- few prima donnas
- no visible tattoos
- the only foreigners are from Nordic/Baltic countries and all have at least passable English
- still isn’t over-commercialized.
Also, hockey jerseys can cover a lot of winter fat!
(I am a hockey player. I am allowed to say that!)
Embarrasing!
Careful there. Sounds a little racist.
Hockey is the only sport we both like to watch, and she follows it closer than I do. Bertussi (sp?) should have been jailed for his assault.
I think it’s because the guys are a hyper-attractive version of the “boy next door”. Hockey players don’t seem to have the self-important personalities that other sports players do. I’ve heard it explained that in other sports the players are stars their whole lives. In hockey the players grew up on some farm in Canada.

Freep mail/ping airborne or Hat-Trick or G8 Diplomat if you want on or off the Hockey Ping List.
LMAO!!
*Note to self= Do not tell Betis or the rest of the hockey ping list that I have started boxing. LOLOLOLOLOL

If you are an old enough Texan to remember the time when girlfriends very much lusted to see the brutal fights over them in public, that mostly died out as the 70s came along and people became less violent.
There was a time when walking into a cafe or a bar on a Friday or Sat. night (in Texas)that you could hear the girlfriends whispering that a man was “looking” at her which meant “fight”.
No, this is more recent, and not just Texas (and not in bars, but organized events).
Lots of young attorney-ladies looking for a “rough” guy (which is pretty funny since I am a Jewish guy who went to MIT, just a big Jewish guy who went to MIT).
I grew up on my daddy’s knee watching hockey. Rangers fan. So sick of them now (too many rules, not enough fights), but oh, how sweet not to hear 1 9 4 0 at every friggin game after they won!!
It was and is the only sport we watch in our house except the superbowl. My oldest played ice hockey throughout high school and my middle and youngest played ice rules roller hockey for years in NJ. They still play for fun to this day on monday nights. So many dents in my garage door from “practicing” corner shots LOL. Hockey RULES!
