FREDERICK, Md. (AP) - Frederick police say four tons of fertilizer have been stolen from a farm supply store.
The fertilizer disappeared from the Southern States store in the 500 block of East South Street in Frederick some time Saturday night or early Sunday.
A store representative told police that 2,000 pounds of urea and 6,000 pounds of other fertilizer are missing. The fertilizer was in white 50-pound bags with a company logo.
Lt. Clark Pennington says they don't know what the motive behind the theft is, but they have notified the Maryland Coordination Analysis Center, which alerts all federal agencies of the theft.

Lovely. :o/
Oh, they’re DRIVING the law of supply and demand.
By even threatening to reduce the supply, the demand and price of ammunition has hugely increased.
Everything at a local gunshow was probably 20% “overpriced” as compared to pre-bamma.
“The most likely reason for the theft is fertilizing fields.”
Bingo!!.....last year fertilizer got very expensive....I paid almost $30 for a 50 pound bag to put on clover around our pond....I would bet that this theft was agricultural in nature; and not anarchist inspired....and BTW I used to buy seed and fertilizer from that Southern States Co-op and somebody must have forgotten to lock the gate to the parking lot....to steal 160 bags took plenty of man power and took some time....wrestling those 50 lb bags around will wear your ass out....they must of had a skid steer and pallets.
Honestly, I do not know what kind of Fertilizer does what, but here’s some info regarding Urea from wikipedia:
“The substance decomposes on heating above melting point, producing toxic gases, and reacts violently with strong oxidants, nitrites, inorganic chlorides, chlorites and perchlorates, causing fire and explosion hazard.”
Maybe a farmer is being creative in saving money on this year’s crops.
I choked on my coffee when I read that. There is only really two uses for 4 tons of fertilizer, and somehow I don't think the proper use it would have been stolen for.
How many gangster farmers can there be?
This is explained in a post above.
Processing into urea nitrate would net material for a whole lot of smaller bombs for use in soemthing on the order of the Indian massacre recently. An ANFO bomb would be a centerpiece to such a slaughter.
In other news, police are wondering if the stolen fertilizer is linked to the four tons of bullsh-t found draining out of the White House sewage system, which is directly piped from Rahm Emanuel's office.
Socailism does not worry about the safety of the peasants.
Its been a while since I bought this stuff and the record keeping and storage requirements have only become more difficult. In addition to fracturing the shale overburden, we wanted to cast as much of the overburden into the empty pit, next to the bench we were working. This was more of a timing issue when the wires were connected to the blasting box. We were able to move as much as 30 percent of the shale by kicking out the front rows (nearest the empty pit.) 30 percent work for the dragline was a big win.
30 percent LESS work...
LOL! Well, since several posters above want a conspiracy, let's make one up- your gangster farmers are growing coca bushes under plastic quonset huts in rural Delaware, and need high-nitro fertilizer to get good leaf with lots of alkaloid.
A few years ago about 2 tons of black pepper got stolen from a dock. Pepper still is a very valuable ag commodity. While most people thought it would appear in restaurant kitchens all up and down the coast, someone I know with connections to DEA thought that the most likely motive was to extract piperidene and use that as a starting material for Extacy-type drugs.
I guess it depends on your mindset.
The Tree of Liberty is not fertilized with anything other than blood of Patriots.
Hey, go check cost of fertilizer these days, likely being stolen to fertilize someone’s garden.
Please dump it on the Capitol steps.
