LA Times ^

After steep January cuts, more than 1 in 10 Californians is out of work. It's even worse in L.A. County.

Unemployment in California shot up to its highest level in nearly 26 years in January, leaving more than 1 in 10 workers without a job.

Figures released Friday show that 79,300 jobs were lost in the state last month, bringing the total number of unemployed to 1,863,000, or 10.1% of the workforce. That's the highest since the rate touched 10.4% in 1983.

Conditions are even worse in Los Angeles County, which saw its unemployment rate jump to 10.5% in January from 9.2% the month before.

Yes, the democrats in California and Washington believe massive tax hikes (in the midst of a recession!) will stimulate the economy.

Jobs? Kalifornicate doesn't need jobs....
We have welfare for EVERYONE, including the illegal aliens, thugs, professional broodmares and the perpetually lazy and worthless.

Jobs? Hell most of these bastards are too incompetent or proud to perform menial jobs..... They're waiting for management positions, because they're "good with people".

That’s because most of the peopel out of work are illegals. They shouldn’t be counted, just exported.

Couldn’t stand to read the whole thing ...... but I’m willing to bet the bank that none of those job losses were state/government workers.

When we had businesses there, we had Federal taxes, State taxes, city taxes, payroll taxes, taxes on the office furniture, forced insurance, God knows what all, you had to hire accountants just to file everything on time, or you got clobbered for that, it was ridiculous. All they have done is drive private enterprise out and punished the small businesses, let them eat Obama cake

Oh, don't worry, they'll all move to red states to get a job and will never put together the fact that blue state, out of work, red state, work.

They'll bring their filthy liberal politics to the red states just to make sure the misery is spread to the entire country.

I say stop them at the border, if they can't provide a republican party card, keep them there.

At the cheese Cake Factory?

Folks will lose their homes to default, have to give up their bratty kids cause they can’t afford to feed them and still they will return soda bottles for the money to go to the Cheese Cake Factory.

I went to California when I was in my late teens and Ronald Reagan was Governor of the state. The highway system was the best in the world, the state gleamed it was so clean, and prosperity was everywhere and it showed.

It wasn't until after the state turned democrat that it began it's decline. It seperated into the very rich and the brutally poor and look at it now. Most of the state is still wonderful, although the infrastructure has sadly deteriorated, but the cities stick (literally), they've become filthy (except in the very wealthy sections) and it just looks sad and shabby.

Liberalism is a terrible thing to do to such a magnificent state. Maybe, some day, after this is over, it will go back to it's glory days once again.

The man in Seat 5, Car No.7, was a worker who believed that he had “a right” to a job, whether his employer wanted him or not.

The woman in Roomette 6, Car no. 8, was a lecturer who believed that, as a consumer, she had “a right” to transportation, whether the railroad people wished to provide it or not.

The man in Roomette 2, Car No. 9, was a professor of economics who advocated the abolition of private property, explaining that intelligence plays no part in industrial production, that man’s mind is conditioned by material tools, that anybody can run a factory or a railroad and it’s only a matter of seizing the machinery...

...The man in Bedroom A, Car no. 16, was a humanitarian who had said, ‘The men of ability? I do not care what or if they are made to suffer. They must be penalized in order to support the incompetent. Frankly, I do not care whether this is just or not. I take pride in not caring to grant any justice to the able, where mercy to the needy is concerned.’

These passengers were awake; there was not a man aboard the train who did not share one or more of their ideas. As the train went into the tunnel, the flame of Wyatt’s Torch was the last thing they saw on earth.”

- Ayn Rand, “Atlas Shrugged”, p566-568

Stop subsidizing illegal aliens....deport them back to where they came from.

The states that are having the toughest time seem to be infested with illegal aliens

The “girly man” economy in California......

No wonder Obama wants to rush in the stimulus money.

He has to keep those people voting Democrat in their misery.

Csalifornia has over 800 state agencies. (Last count, a month ago, was 808, but may be higher now.)

For comparison, Arizona has just over 150.

What was that budget problem again?
