LA Times ^

After steep January cuts, more than 1 in 10 Californians is out of work. It's even worse in L.A. County.

Unemployment in California shot up to its highest level in nearly 26 years in January, leaving more than 1 in 10 workers without a job.

Figures released Friday show that 79,300 jobs were lost in the state last month, bringing the total number of unemployed to 1,863,000, or 10.1% of the workforce. That's the highest since the rate touched 10.4% in 1983.

Conditions are even worse in Los Angeles County, which saw its unemployment rate jump to 10.5% in January from 9.2% the month before.

WHERE?????

I still had to wait 30 minutes to pay 16.00 dollars for a 2.00 dollar tuna sandwhich at a restaurant tonight.

Wait times at the Cheese Cake Factory were 45 Minutes.

I keep expecting to find easy parking , walk in, be seated and waited on by 20 servers.

It is for the turds calling the shots. For the rest of us it's not such a good deal. Thanks Obama voters. You are just as screwed as the rest of us.

The obvious solution is to retire some rake holding parks and recs guy for $100k/yr pension........and free up a state job.

Retire most state, county, city workers at full benefits, pensions and hire the unemployed.

Keep doing that until the unemployment rate is zero. Bring the full retirement time down to a year if you have to.

Problem solved.

The massive tax hikes should help. Wait’ll they start making their impact, and everything will turn out alright.

California voters are getting EVERYTHING they voted for.

Painful poetic justice, but justice none the less.

Where I would like to see huge job losses is at the LA Times. That paper consistently supports more taxes, more socialism, more liberal goofiness. I want that paper to die and everybody* associated with it to lose their jobs, their homes, their life savings, and their families. For what they have done to America they deserve nothing less.

Don’t worry. They raised taxes and spending to “fix” the problem. All is well.

And the morons in state government want to increase taxes - and only those who still produce things will pay it - if they stay here. But the Governator say’s “It is exactly what California needed”...

Stupid is as stupid does.

Things are so bad, even my long-retired mother is seeing the change. In here local grocery store there are no checkers. They used to have several checkers, where now they have on checker and one person monitoring several “self service” checkout lines.

Brutal.

Home Depot is doing this also.

It will result in another influx of those cockroaches into this state. I'm running out of bug spray.

So why don’t they pump some of that 50 years of oil they have on and off their soil? Then no Californian would need to pay taxes again for anything.

Oh that’s right, and don’t want to hurt their CA environment. Plus it is better to get a bailout from the other citizens of the U.S.

Selfish fools.

And the Hollywood Elite, too. In fact I salute Bernie Madoff for his role in this regard.

Meaningless factoid supplied by clueless writer.
