And I first heard him on the radio during the 1970s whenever I was visiting my grandparents during the Summer... I always loved his stories, and there was just something special about his voice. Whenever I remember back to lunch with my grandparents, Paul Harvey is there, his voice streaming out of the little transistor radio on top of the cabinet in the kitchen...

May he Rest in Peace.

There was no one shrugging their shoulders wondering why he didn't hang it up 20 years ago

To the contrary, I was shocked and revolted a few years ago to hear Harvey praising the treasonous Jack Murtha. I put it down to senility.

I remember hearing him on the radio at my grandparents house in the 1950’s. He was an Icon and will be surly missed!

What a life and oh, how he enriched the lives of all his listeners; and for so many years. An American icon; with a legacy. We cannot live forever; but so very sad to hear of his passing.

My dad passed away 10 years ago,,, I miss him so much....

I have found out that there are really no words to say to someone who has lost a loved, but, to only BE THERE for them.

By your posting backhoe; I know your Mom deserves ‘kudos’. Being loved and misssed is it’s own special tribute. Am very sorry for your loss; but clearly, you will hold on to your Mom in many special ways.

Hi, FRiend- I lost my Mom in 2003, and Miss Emily's passed away almost a year ago-- and how strange it is because sometimes, we feel like if we just drove out to their places one more time, and parked and walked up the walkways again, there they'd be, standing in the kitchen door...

He was the Norman Rockwell of radio. I don’t often feel it deeply when a well-known figure passes, but this time it feels like I’ve lost a friend. He was an always welcome voice on my radio, and a truly unique and radio personality. He sprinkled in his conservative commentry with humor and gentle irony; there not an angry was bone in his body. I’ll even miss his earnest commercial plugs for Citrical and Bose radios.

Here are my thoughts on the subject.

When I first saw the headline at the top if "Breaking News" my heart sunk. Paul Harvey was one of a kind. There's no way in the world anyone can replace him. He was one of the very best in the business.

His career started out here in Oklahoma. He worked for radio stations in Oklahoma City and Tulsa. I can remember listening to him during luch time in my junior high and high school days on KNIN in Wichita Falls

His very first radio broadcast on ABC Radio was in 1951. He was the best at reporting and analyzing world and national events well.

Like I said most people in the news and commentary business are one of a kind and are irreplaceable. Paul Harvey was one of them.

Paul Harvey, R.I.P.

Heaven is richer for his arrival, we are lessened by his departure.

Thank you Paul Harvey, for being a moral absolutist in a world of amoral quicksand.

God Rest You.
