I was finally able to watch Rush’s speech on YouTube, but it would have looked so much nicer in my media player. But, I’ll take what I can get. That speech was a real morale booster, and very enjoyable.

Yes, I saw that upthread, but I only get broadcast tele. It was also posted on the C-SPAN website, but their viewer window was so dinky, that I took a pass on watching it there.

I eventually just went to YouTube and watched it in 10 parts. What an awesome and uplifting speech.

I didn’t calculate the Ron Paul types, because they are hard to apportion. Some equate with hard core economic conservatives and might have gone for someone GOP other than McCain. Some were very antiwar and would either vote Obama or sit rather than vote for anyone the GOP could have nominated. Some are socially liberal (pro-drugs, pro-abortion) but economically free market types who are never going to be happy with an economic+social conservative Reaganesque coalition. Like the isolationists and the protectionists they have a very high bark to bite ratio and for the most part aren’t worth the effort required to recruit them or even to swat them. If you are true to yourself and true to small government economic policy, alas unlike many GOP reps recently, they’ll at least respect you. If you then point out the many ways the Democrats, in contrast, talk out of both sides of their mouths maybe these gadflies will attack the Rats instead.

It is interesting that CNN is still using the Rush speech as their lead news on their web site.

CNN was NOT going to carry it. The word is that some executive said their ratings are going to tank if they didn't carry it.

With this brilliant speech, I believe Rush just elevated himself to a higher level now, politically. It was a *POTENT* shot across the bow at 0bama. And I believe 0's s gonna fell it's impact sooner, or later. (hopefully sooner)

Rush is no longer just a "Conservative talk show host." His status as citizen of these great United States of America is now elevated to *STATESMAN, RUSH LIMBAUGH ~ PROTECTOR & DEFENDER OF OUR FOUNDING DOCUMENTS ~ AND LIBERTY & FREEDOM, THEMSELVES.

Nice tag, but I would add the *DATE* to that, cause I think it will become an historic day for the Conservative Party...errr, Movement! Rush had elevated his status to “STATESMAN” now! Deemed by CPAC as the modern day “Ben Franklin!”
